I bought this to go outside but it's way too nice so am keeping it inside! I may varnish it later but after a rub down I've put it on a piece of cardboard which is fine for laminate floor. No dirt comes off it in normal use. Update & 3rd photo: now perfect in the garden.

These crates are very good for the price but when you add in the postage from Germany they aren't quite such a bargain. However they are perfect for the job I had in mind - storing firewood in the porch - as they are rustic looking, quite strong and solidly made. If you wanted to bring them in the house I think you'd need to give them a coat of varnish to stop the charred wood from marking walls and carpets. I like them and may well buy some more to store veg in the corner of the utility.
