Q: I only have one parakeet (budgie) to feed. Even though it is a 10 lb bag the price is hard to resist. So my question is can I freeze the extra?

Never tried that. My 10 pound bag tore from it not being packed well so I cannot answer for the 10 pound bag. I buy the 2 pound from the pet store and never froze it. I would worry about the thaw process they might get wet from condensation so be careful about that.

Q: What is the shelf life?

That would be a question for ZuPreem, but I buy the big 10# bag for my Starling, and it lasts him a little over a year with no problems with this food.
