Taylor & Ng Natural Nonstick Wok Set, 14", Carbon Steel

I gave this as a gift. The person I gave it to didn't have any complaints so I'm assuming it's goid

Purchased as gift for my husband. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED in this item, so much so that it went into the garbage after ONE "use".It comes with a weird plastic-like coating that IS NOT DISCLOSED and IS NOT VISIBLE (until you use the wok and this "stuff" starts peeling up like extra thin plastic wrap). I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE and it said NOTHING about this "stuff" - so there were NO INSTRUCTIONS on removing it. Once the wok had been used this "stuff" balled up in some areas, flaked off in others and in other areas just stayed stuck. This wok went into the garbage can after ONE USE (and NO, we did NOT eat what was cooked in it - had to toss that too!)

I love that this wok is pre- heat-treated and made in Taiwan (not China), but ugh the anti-rust coating has taken me a week to scrub off. You have to heat the wok all the way up to the edges because the whole inside is coated, and scrub scrub scrub to get it off. What a waste of paper towels. This is the case with pretty much any wok you buy, though.Additionally, this wok is NOT pre-seasoned, only pre-heated to get the blue patina. You will have to season it yourself after removing the anti-rust coating.

This product and my experience in attempting to express my concerns to the seller have caused me to reconsider these kinds of third party purchases. After receiving the package, which was delivered later than promised, I followed directions to prepare the wok for use. The difficult process involved in taking off the "food grade" protective covering resulted in marks and burns before actual use. The wok is cheaply made and the lid is aluminum. The wok is described as "pre-seasoned," is inaccurate. When I reached out via the email address provided with the package, the e-message bounced back. When I reached out to Amazon, my message was directed to the seller. In the response I did receive, it was suggested that I contact the maker of the wok directly. The combination of a poor product and lack of good customer service have led to this negative review.

The product seems sturdy and well built. However, the Wox did not heat evenly on my induction stovetop or my NuWave Induction stovetop. I called a Wox hotline and I was advised that a Wox does not work well on induction stovetops. Wox are meant for gas stovetop or an outdoor grill or gas grill. I returned the product as it did not evenly heat up on my induction stovetop. Also, there was a restocking fee that I was not aware of.

As wonderful as my Taylor & Ng wok from years ago, but pre-seasoned to make that process faster!

I bought it as a gift. My brother loves it!

Unfortunately I think the problem is with whoever sent this product. They sent no care instructions with the product and who knows how the wok will fare out. The quality of the items sent leaves room for improvement, a bit flimsy.
