Great on a Lynx 12
I put one on my Lynx 12. Used the mid-thickness rubber pad to prevent marking up the barrel. Then added a cheap light with a quick disconnect knob on the mount. Only two modes on the light...on or off. No monkeying arount with the button 5 or 6 times to get it where I want it...one click of the button and its on. Really lights up the hallway for things that go bump in the night. The mount is solid, not too big & is exactly what I wanted it to be...perfect for this type of application and shotgun.

Solid mount for my shotgun..
Mounted to the load tube of my Mossberg 500 Cruiser with pistol grip. Wanted a mounted solution for a laser flashlight combo for nights where the coyotes like to wander into the backyard. Absolutely solid and seems to hold up well with no loosening issues under the recoil of the 12 gauge. Great little clamp for the money..

Solid for attachments
Fits good on my 12 gauge magazine tube with the smallest rubber spacer

Works well on my non-standard air rifle.
I wanted to add a laser sight to my Umarex Legends MP air rifle. Being a replica of a WWII weapon it does not have an accessory rail. Beyond that, it's just not friendly to adding modern equipment due to the antique design. This add on rail works fine, even on this gun. I haven't shot it yet with the sight, but the sight can be zeroed so I would expect no problems. It is easy to use and comes with assorted gaskets to both size the rail and protect your gun's finish. If it can work on this gun, it should work on just about any rifle. It can be made very snug, so using it on an actual firearm shouldn't be a problem.

No More Flashlight In The Mouth
Needed a way to hunt copperheads at night w/o having to hold a flashlight in my mouth, or needing a 2nd person to hold the light. This works perfect. Now I can hold the shotgun with one hand at my waist as a walking flashlight, and when I see something there's no more shuffling a light separate from the gun.

Proper Design
Excellent. The two pieces mate together via a channel which inspires confidence. It comes with friction pads for stability you insert under the clamps (different sizes for a good seal on various diameters). The curvature makes pinching of the magazine tube unlikely (other designs not so and led to "failure to feeds" because the pressure points literally bend the tube if tightened down). This is 26 bux - there are ones for 35, 45 bux and up - dont bother. Get this one. (The Trinity Rail on amazon sucks)*A final note - i have the heavy walled barrel version of the 590 which reduces the space between the mag tube and barrel. This clamp design is one of the only rail attachments that makes this a non issue. 100% recommendation.P.S. Mine came with the screws missing, packaging could use improvement since they fell out.

One size fits all poorly
While this mount *can* fit on a 12ga shotgun barrel, it does so terribly. This thing might be (barely) passable for use on an air gun, but on a shotgun or anything else with notable recoil, I don’t think it would stand up to use.The hinged design of this mount means that the clamping surface only forms a circle at one specific diameter (and that diameter is much, much smaller than a 12 gauge barrel). At any other diameter, the clamp forms an oval(ish) shape. So, unless your barrel is very close to the optimal diameter, the clamp surface does not seat against the barrel properly. Instead it only makes contact at four points, leaving gaps everywhere else. This isn’t just cosmetically hideous, it also means that the clamp has poor grip compared to a circular clamp, digs in to the barrel, and has gaps to collect moisture, oil, and dirt. (I wish I had taken pictures. The fit on a large barrel is amusingly bad.)Moving on, the silicone pads do not match the size of this clamp. They are way too small. You have to use two of them to try to protect your barrel. Finally, the rail ends up offset from the barrel when clamped onto a large barrel.I wish I’d looked at pictures in the reviews before buying. Take a look at how it fits for people and decide if that’s what you want before ordering. This thing can only properly fit one size of barrel, but they sell it like it’s universal fit.

Well made, but didn't work out for my O/U shotgun
I was looking for a way to attach a rail (for a action camera) to my Browning 12Ga. Over/Under (O/U) shotgun. This mount is sturdy and well made, but it didn't work out for me. It is designed to clamp to a barrel with two semi-circles, which can theoretically be padded such as to leave a "gap" opening to accommodate the side rib (the component between/joining the two barrels). However, there is as inherent asymmetry in the way this mount clamps the barrels that makes this unsatisfactory for a O/U. If you look closely at the pictures, the two "halves" of the clamp are not symmetric. The rail is fixed to one of the "halves;" The other "half" slides into its counterpart as a hinge that can be "opened" or "closed" to adjust the size of the circular clamp to the diameter of the barrel and thickness of the side rib. However, any adjustments cause the second "half's" spatial relationship with the rail to vary. When the hinge is set to the diameter of the barrel and the "gap" is positioned to straddle the side rib, the rail is not correctly oriented with the gun's axis.TL:DR: The angle of the rail to the axis of the barrels ideally should be set level to the ground or 90 degrees to the vertical axis of the barrels. I couldn't do this with this mount on my o/u. This won't be an issue if only have one barrel and no constraints as to where the "gap" needs to be; you would just simply clamp this mount onto your barrel and rotate until the rail would be level to the ground (albeit the rail may still be offset in a different axis). However, an o/u has constraints on the size of the hinge/clamp AND the position of the "gap."Again, this mount is well machined and finished. It feels sturdy. It just can't mount to an o/u.
