I use this liner for that very light flow when starting and ending my period. It's easier to have one or two of these folded up in my pocket, than a bulkier pad. And let's be real... it's just more financially feasible to use something like this instead of an actual full-size pad, when you're only needing moderate coverage.

Honestly, I don’t honestly I really don’t think these are long. They barely cover the inside rectangle of the underwear like where I average pad would fit. It doesn’t fit over the line of an average pad. This pad is in my opinion only for women that have leakage when they cough or throw up I would not use this for my period because it will not be long enough to catch it all.
