According to the product description, this device does not have any fonts, the user must provide them, meaning the interface accepts pixels that form the shapes you create; those shapes can be text characters or icons. Hence, you can display whatever you want there.

Q: Are the color fields fixed or can you program any text in the top 2 rows?

The colors are fixed. The top rows are yellow and the rest white. You can put whatever text you want at the top but if the font is too big the colors will be split.

Q: Is this compatible with arduino uno wifi rev.2?

Yes, upgrade past arduino 1.89 to version2.0 or above.

Q: Has anyone got this to work with esphome? if so, which platform and model did you use? when i try it, it knocks off the wi-fi connection.

I used devkit1 on arduino ide to run programs.
