I learned about thickening stews with dried okra powder from a lady who grew her own, dried it, and crushed it. It adds a kind of earthy, green taste. Even nicer if you toast the okra first, but just dried is also good.Not that you need a lot to thicken stew, but this is a really small packet. I'll probably use it up in 3 medium batches. Reducing one star for how little you get for the price.That said, it tastes more or less like I remember. If you're looking to add a flavour dimension to your cooking, something fun to try, it is worth a shot, and you're not stuck with a huge bag if you don't jibe with it.
