This book is a must have.
Being new sucks. But when you read this, it shows you all the things you need to be the best Witch you can be. It gives spells, ingredients, tools, etc. This book is written to be easily understood and used. It's a definite need for new Witches.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Covers lots of information on magic and protection
I found the book chalked full of information. This could have actually been 2 books. It covers many different types of magical systems and their history. I did feel like it needed a touch more of personality from the author to be more engaging but that did not take away from the material presented. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Great, informative book
I wish I'd had this book to read years ago. Absolutely love it! It's packed full with practical information. No boring filler! It's very informative on all the basics (and some a little more in depth) without droning on. The author is Wiccan, I'm not. This is not a Wiccan book. It touches on basically everything and I would highly recommend this book for anyone. The ONLY negative I feel I must mention, being an honest and impartial review, is a mention fairly early on stating never to consume rosemary, as it is toxic. If it had said toxic in excess quantities, ok, but it didn't. (Rosemary is my absolute favorite herb for seasoning meats and it's also beneficial in herbal teas). I debated then whether I even wanted to read any further at that point but I'm honestly glad I did. There really is a tremendous amount of useful information. Will definitely be a go-to book on my favorite shelf and I'm looking forward to reading some of her other books.I did received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review completely voluntarily.

Misleading title, but valuable information
The first book in this duo, "Spells for Beginners," Is more of a book that is chock full of valuable information abut what magick is, where it came from, the different types of magick, myths, and old wives tales about magic, and thing like that. In the beginning, it briefly covers things like what the different colors/candles/crystals/and certain herbs are for. Very basic information which, like I said, is valuable infomation. But I didn't get out of it how to cast spells. The second book, "Protection Magick to Break Hexes and Banish Negative Influences," is where the author really gets into the nitty gritty of spells and putting them together. She says that protection magick is a good place to start because if it goes wrong, little to no harm is done. You just try again until it goes right. These books are great for someone looking to learn about the history of magick, what it is about, and where it stems from. But they don't touch a lot on actual spellcasting.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great read
In our history books, we know a lot of different Witch Trials. In the US, there was Salem, MA; a few in Scotland, a few in England, and a few in Germany and elsewhere. But, it is in Germany where the death toll is the highest, which surprised me. The biggest horrifying thought, that I learned in this book, was that even today, there are still people who are blamed for bad things happening and a mob can still attack those for “being a witch.” The duology explains the history of witches as well as the different religions and places where there is spirituality and mysticism. I found the information by Gardener in the book fascinating and how Wicca came into being. It is upsetting that the definition of witchcraft is so large and different depending upon where you are in the world. In history, a midwife could be considered a witch and stoned for it. Plus, there are just so many different types of witches!Astrology, numerology and various divinations were used and explained in the books. As well as how to make your own spells and given a few examples on how to protect yourself and your home, etc.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good Read
I like that it provides a foundation for understanding magic, reasons behind it and the tools needed to use the book responsibly. I particularly liked the section on protection magic. The way they broke down some complex topics in a way that was clear and concise was very good. As a beginner, I found it helpful.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
