The Vava does work with the MacBook Pro 2018. A real multi-tool.
While the USB C ports work fine, the HDMI will not sync properly. **DO NOT BUY** for the MBP 2018. The only AV adapter that seems to work is the Apple adapter at like $60 - ack ack!**Update** - After checking the HDMI cable and connections to our work monitor, it was not the Vava Hub. Score revisited and revised. Actually, it is not easy to find a working hub with as many possibilities as the Vava has. The USB slots are flawless, the USB C connection is a satisfying "click" and the SD card ports are solid.

So this works really well and looks great on my 15-in MacBook Pro
As a designer, I needed a HDMI and SD card slots more than anything. So this works really well and looks great on my 15-in MacBook Pro. Despite the metal casing, it didn’t get any hotter than my laptop charger did during usage. It seems to have a slightly shorter cable than other brands which will make it less unwieldy. I have had no problems with my vava interfering with my WiFi.The 3 USB ports are USB 3.0 and have good transfer speeds. I use a bluetooth mouse from one of the parts and so far no issues. Vava is my go-to when I'm running to meetings and traveling. The unboxing experience is top notch. It has a similar unboxing experience to an Apple product, so it is packaged very well. Overall I’m extremely happy with it and I would highly recommend it.

Perfect!
Perfect!Works perfectly out of the box with my HP Envy Notebook. USB-C even charges my phone(oneplus 5) even when the Rj45 is connected and USB ports are being used. its a life saver when wifi is choppy and ethernet is the only way to get online. it has saved me for quite a few times during my travels during holidays.- HDMI works great(at 30Hz) while connecting to monitors, the USB charging out looks interesting - although i did not use it much to tell.- Ethernet port is adjustable and it gets good speeds - i really like the versatility of this product. small package but mighty effective.- The cord is just too short(~1ft) - i wish it could be a bit longeroverall, comparing the cost of the docking station - i would say its a decent buy and value for money. happy with this purchase.

Love it! 5 Stars
Love it! Sleek and slim design. Works perfectly with my Dell XPS 13. The Ethernet and 3 USB 3.0 ports are useful when I'm traveling so I don't need to bring my bulky Dell original dock station with me in case the hotel room doesn't provide wifi. The build quality looks good, haven't had any issues yet, the 18-month warranty sounds good. 5 Stars.

Works great, albeit gets a wee hot. +125F .
I've been using this continuously for over a month. With both ethernet and wifi (on and off). Unplugging occasionally to walk to a different office area or conference room, returning with no issues regarding network connectivity. I plug the Macbook Pro Touch power (87w) USB-C / thunderbolt3 into this adapter and it delivers power, gigabit ethernet, USB type A compatibility for my USB memory stick and a HDMI display to for an extended monitor. This has been working well for me. Although it does get hot. upto 125F . See image.

A good multi-tool device
This is a multiple tools in 1 device, including USB hubs, HDMI, card readers and ethernet, tested on a MacBook Pro 2017, the ports are working as expected. The integrated ports are pretty useful since the MBP 2017 has only type-C connections. My only complain is it does not have a type-c charging cable come with it, so I cannot test the charging port at this point. I am not sure without external power supply, it can support multiple tools at the same time.

This USB-C Hub is Slick
VAVA USB-C 8-in-1 HubBackground:I needed an expansion for my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro that has an RJ-45 Ethernet jack and USB-3.0 for my 5GHz WiFi dongle. I also wanted the expansion to have USB-C port connection to be future-proof (for my next laptop)It was a tough choice. I could have bought a USB hub that gave me the USB expansion that I needed for my WiFi dongle that included Gig-E RJ-45 for less than half the price of a true USB-C Adapter. I just couldn’t pull the trigger… thinking that I may be replacing my laptop in a few years and then wishing I had bought the USB-C version.I feel confident I made the right choice going with the USB-C versionProduct Packaging:Nothing special. Everything was nice and snug. No worries about possible damageLook/Feel:There are other versions of the same unit. One is squarer and weighs a bit more. That version may be useful as a weapon, but I prefer the rounded-edge lighter version.I’m not 100% sure, but I think that the unit’s housing is light-gauge extruded aluminum. It has that cool metallic feel and it’s tough!I’m pretty happy with the 6” (152mm) cable. Though a bit stiff, it’s good because it doesn’t get in the way and it’s easy to store in the laptop bag without having to wrap/wind the cable. Both ends of the cable are well strain-relieved.Setup:I first tried the hub with my Type-C USB PCIe card in my desktop. Nothing to setup.I then tried the hub using a dinky $3 USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter on my Yoga 2… worked there with no setup too.Benchmarks:Yes, I’m a geek… I must benchmark my stuffThe SD and TF/microSD ports ran almost as fast as my memories: 38.9 Mbytes/second on the 40Mbyte/second SD and 65Mbytes/second on the 95 Mbyte/second microSDHC U1The Ethernet ran at about 40.2 MBytes/second (keep in mind that this is also going through my USB 3.0 to USB-C adapter). I also got 121.5 Mbits/second on Internet Speed Test. Impressive!Other Info:Neither my laptop nor desktop PCs support remote HDMI over USB-C. My Yoga 2 laptop has its own microHDMI port (and I already have a cable… yes one more cable in the laptop bag). Bottom line… I don’t need that feature so didn’t go out of my way to try it. Other reviews that I have read said it works as advertised. Once I get my next laptop (with USB-C), I’ll worry about it then 😊I’m also not using the charging features, so I can’t honestly rate or speak to some of the high-temperature observations… so must give 5-stars based on other reviews.Summary:Not much to say other than it works as advertised, I like the look and feel, and it’s just what I need at a price-point that’s on-par with similar units ($59.99 at time of first review).

Pay attention to the temperature!
This hub has been very useful for me, I think there are a lot of good aspects of it however you need to be very careful. Monitor how hot this gets. For me, I can't use HDMI and ethernet at the same time. It gets so hot. Also, after about a year I can't use USB-A on it because they get so hot, they keep getting "ejected". Thought it was my USB that was faulty but when I pulled it out of the hub, the hub and the USB key were so hot! I tried other USB keys and yeah, its definitely the hub. Trying to find support on VAVA's website wasn't easy, one of their methods is Facebook messenger but im not enrolling in a Facebook account just to hear the warranty is over.Anyways, this is my experience. It was a good 4.5/5-star experience prior to these heat issues, which are really concerning.
