Great for Herbs and Veggies, Tight Fit for Bigger Seeds
These sponges arrived smaller than I expected, but they did match the size guide shown in the listing, so that was on me. Once I soaked them in water, they expanded to a good size. They’re still a bit smaller than the sponges that came with my Growell hydroponic system, but they’re close enough to work well and feel like a great value overall. The material holds moisture nicely and provides good support for seedlings. I tested them with pumpkin seeds, and while I could fit two seeds in each sponge, it was a tight fit. If you’re planning to use these for smaller seeds like herbs or lettuce, they’ll work perfectly. For larger seeds like pumpkins, squash, or beans, I’d suggest going up a size for better breathing room. That said, I’ve already grown a handful of happy, healthy plants with these sponges. They’ve held up well, stayed moist without falling apart, and made the germination process really easy. If you’re working with a compact hydroponic setup or doing seed starting indoors, these are a great option. Pros: ✅ Expands nicely when soaked ✅ Holds moisture well and supports good germination ✅ Great for small to medium seeds ✅ Affordable and matches the description ✅ Compatible with many hydroponic systems including Growell Cons: ❌ A little too tight for larger seeds like pumpkins or squash ❌ Slightly smaller than my original Growell sponges

Great price
These are great when you run out with the ones that come with the system. They seem small but they will get bigger once you soak them.

These are okay
Worked for what I needed but they’re really dense material wise compared to other ones we’ve purchased.

Stuff for hydroponics
You need these when you put seedlings down to sprout. You can take them out of the hydroponics to planting them.

Work Great
These are packed flat in an airless compressed plastic, and I was a bit worried when I got the delivery because they looked small and they looked bent and contorted. But when these plumped out in water, they got larger and they straighten out to be normal looking. I am using these in my aerogarden indoor hydroponic growing system. They are functioning just fine for seed starting in fall of 2025 for winter gardening. The plants are growing well in them.

Something wrong here!!!
When I receive these, they were Vacuum impact so tight that they stayed out of shape until wet. They are very dense, not like previous pods. I have purchased from other vendors. I have been using my hydroponic grower for vegetables for years. Purchased these pods for the first time because of the price. Wasted money. Tried multiple times and nothing would sprout, or sprouted and never grew to a healthy starter for transplanting. Missed my return window due to trying multiple times thinking it was a fluke. Now tossing them in the trash. Lesson learned. not all grow pods are created equal.
