It truely works. It bridges e-arc even to systems as close sourced as Bose lifestyles.
Ok, here is my 2 cents. I have a Bose V35 system and I really enjoy it. I know that out of all the home theater systems Bose is the not an open source and improvements and updates are not available pr rare. It's a damn time capsule, one I payed good money for and unless it dies on me, its staying where it is. With an optical cable to my TV my 5.1 experience was just OK. This seemed like a good affordable gamble on improving my listening experience accessing e-arc. Nothing else seemed possible. To my surprise my center & surround speakers have improved and make my viewing more emmersive. Downside, to now access my V35 console I have to disconnect the box and return to optical mode. I know the Bose limitations and a regular AV perhaps would make it easier. All I wanted was better sound and I got it. I'm not upgrading my system so is is as good as it is going to get.

Awesome Audio Adapter
This Extractor works very well, the sound is amplified especially if you have great analog soundbar speakers.

Works well for audio extraction but note no video output
Works nicely to extract audio from of of my TV's eARC HDMI ports to feed active loudspeakers and allows control of the volume using the TV's volume control. However, it does not pass the video through to the HDMI out port and therefore only 4 stars.

Need some improvement
For some reason it only works with 2.1 chanel only. When I switch to 5.1 it does not work. It go mute. Also when I switch back to 2.1 it does not go back diretly. I need to reset the tv and itself to get it back to the external speaker. Anyways when it working it does what it supposed to do. Transfer sound to the external speaker.

Not Easy to Use, But Worth it...
It's not really this doohickey's fault that it's hard to use. If Arc and EArc actually worked, you wouldn't need it. I had trouble setting it up, but long story short, it's because you still need to set your tv and receiver up correctly in order to take the correct signal. I have: a TCL QM7K TV that I had to disable EArc on (so it would only output arc) a FireTV stick that I had to set to Dobly Digital Plus (not auto) a Marantz SR5007 7.1 receiver that I had to use the non-arc hdmi port on Or I could just use an optical port, which worked right away. Problem is the optical signal cut out most of the base and sounded notably flat to me(and I'm not an Audiophile). I got this because my receiver could only pass through a 4k30hz signal and my TV requires 4k60hz or it goes down to 1080p.

Randomly doesn't work
EDIT: I originally thought this device didn't support Dolby TrueHD, but that was the fault of my Google TV not able to pass it through. There still is one big criticism. I bought this to bypass the broken ARC port on my 7.2 Yamaha receiver. This solution is great for me since most streaming platforms no longer support S/PDIF formats. I would give 5 stars except for one HUGE issue. After a month of use it would randomly not work. It would randomly switch to stereo despite playing 5.1 content that had worked before. Pressing the button to switch modes would put it back onto stereo. Powering down and restarting the device would sometimes fix this. I've since upgraded to a more expensive device that does not have this issue.

External sound card. Works surprisingly well.
Can be used as an external sound source for a micro desktop. The next best thing to adding a sound card when that option doesn't really exist for your small computer or laptop.
