A great read for anyone!
Hacked by Jessica Barker MBE PhD is a great read and one that I fully intend on passing on to friends who don't have much knowledge of information security and the dangers of sharing all of their information online.Jessica managed to write this book with enough indepth information to keep me interested and learning but in a way that a complete novice would understand which makes this a great read for absolutely anyone looking to understand more on how scammers are using our information and what we can all do to protect ourselves.A few of my favourite chapters were:📕 Romance FraudThis chapter touched on some of the very current and very real dangers of talking to people online including the psychological strategies being used by scammers, red flags to look out for and sextortion.📘 Social Media ScamsHow social media has become a haven for everything from fake news, people and goods to fake jobs and opportunities along with some great tips on how to be more social media savvy.📗 Malicious InsidersThis chapter was probably my favourite covering topics such as what motivates malicious insiders and how businesses can protect themselves. I especially enjoyed the story on the Formula 1 spygate.

Thorough and accessible review of security threats and what you can do about them
Hacked is a refreshingly short book but in no way short on content. Each chapter addresses a specific risk to security, covering the background of the risk including real-world examples, then placing it in context and providing straightforward and useful advice on precautions you can take to address it. Although the content is, in places, highly technical the author assumes no prior knowledge, making this one of the rare security books that is accessible to almost any audience.Despite this it is not a book that is wasted on experienced readers. I've been in the industry for decades and have bookcases groaning at the weight of numerous textbooks but still found each chapter engaging and picked up a lot of new information. As someone who often wants to follow up on an author's assertion or summary, it was good to see that each chapter is provided with a full set of references for readers who are interested in more detail, and thoughtfully online references are presented using a link archiving service, so no more frustrating "page not found" errors. This is a great book that will be of value to anyone wanting to increase their knowledge and improve their security.

Informative and easy to read
A good book about hacking and the various present-day online scams and how they have evolved and continuing to adapt to catch more of us unawares. It was a lot more interesting and informative than a lot of the mandatory training I have experienced on this topic and has certainly made me more security aware.

An excellent read for our times
It is a rare treat to find a book on cybersecurity, that provides for both the layperson and and the seasoned cybersecurity veteran. What Jess has done here has provided a first rate description of the manner in which criminals target and attack us, but in an easy to digest and informative way. Unlike many books on the subject it dispenses with long and drawn out technical descriptions and replaces them with easy to understand concepts and examples. Each concept is provided in a clear crisp narrative. . But more than that, Hacked provides pragmatic and real solutions that can be implemented by everyone. If you are interested in understanding the why and the how of cyber crime, this is the book you need to read. I cannot rate it more highly.

Good book with standard techniques for cyber protection
I liked the stories and the book was well researched. The reason for my low rating was that odd pages were printed with text smudging, which made the book had to read. This was not the authors fault but the printer’s fault. Bad QC.
