Awesome boots
This is my second pair of these boots and I absolutely love them. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

Good boots
I have had my Lowa's for a week. It only took a couple of days to break them in. This is the first time of purchasing the Lowa brand, and even though I was not happy with the price, being I have an A width foot, it was really one of three boots I have found that was worth the try. My last pair was a Merrill boot, I had bought two pair and they lasted about ten years. I wear them during the fall and winter months daily for work and pleasure. Usually during the spring and summer I were Nike running/walking shoes. Unfortunately Merrill does not have a B width that I could find, so I had to move on. Any way most boot makers don't think about narrow footed customers and finding A or B widths are next to impossible. So far the Lowa's have been excellent. They fit well right out of the box. They cinch up fairly snug and are comfortable. They keep feet warm and dry. From what I can tell the construction is top notch. Being in Oklahoma, I don't have a lot of hiking trails to take off on, but I do walk a lot on gravel and uneven ground at work, and these fit the bill. The only reason I can't give the boots a 5 star rating at this time,is because of the price of the boot. I want to see for my self how long they last, and if I can get the same wear as I did with the Merrill's, then they will have earned a five star rating from me. Time will tell, so far, I am very happy with my purchase and the quality of the product. This is my second pair of Lowa's. I have been wanting a brown pair, but did not want to pay over 200 like I did the last pair. I waited a year before they went on sale, and then pulled the trigger. This pair fits just like the pair last year. Comfortable right out of the box. I can now give this boot a five star rating. No complaints what so ever. Highly recommend them.

Worth every hard earned dollar. Outstanding.
Yes these boots are expensive, but you get what you pay for certainly shows its truth here. These are exactly what I've been looking for, and have lived up to all of my expectations without fail. I've spilled gasoline, diesel, acetone, Weld spatter, and grinder sparks all over these boots. No discoloration, no fraying, no signs of delamination, and I'm still on the original laces after almost a full year in these boots. Now to be fair, comfort and fitment are going to vary from person to person, but man these are like a tailored fit for me haha! The shoe soles are very comfortable. Not way too soft, and not hard like a rock. Just right like good ol' Goldie Locks used to say. Can't find enough good things to say about lowa. They included a very detailed break in guide and have great information on cleaning and conditioning. Regular care even after some of the toughest days I've put these boots through and they still look just as good as they day they came outta the box 5 big fat golden stars for the people at LOWA. Outstanding.

Great Boot, especially for flat feet
I have wide, flat feet. This can be a problem when finding quality, comfortable boots. I bought the Renegade based on reviews, and ordered a half of a size larger based on what everybody is saying. I take around a size 11.5, so I ordered a 12 EE (wide) and they fit perfectly (keep in mind I also wear orthodics and thicker socks with these boots). The boot is incredibly comfortable so far. I've hiked up a smaller mountain and did a couple of day hikes and I have no complaints. To test out the waterproof portion I've had to wear them on a day where it was pouring out, I mean rainind HARD, and took my dog for a walk. I was walking through puddles almost up to the ankle and didn't get any water in the boot at all. When I got home my pants were soaked and my feet were dry :). This boot is totally worth the money, but I suggest if you're concerned with getting the correct size than get a half of a size larger. I find that other hiking boots usually run a little smaller as well. I have a pair of Merrell hiking shoes for lightweight day hikes and I have to get those in size 12 also. I don't think anybody will go wrong with the Renegade, and I especially mean that for people like me who have a structural flat foot problem (not possible to build arches due to bone structure). Get it!!

Superior Hiking Boot
I have just ordered my 5th pair of Lowa Men's Renegade GTX boots. I have been working for the Forest Service as a Wilderness Ranger in severe Sierra Nevada real estate. I have found these boots to have excellant traction on slick, steep granite, and on icy stream crossings. They are light, flexable and have kept my feet dry even when punching through snow. The front toe piece is sturdy enough to protect your toes against kicks on boulders and the leather protects your ankles . The ankle support is comfortable even when laced real tight. My backpack is in the 20-30lb range and the Renegade is okay with that weight. A heaver pack may warrant a heavier boot. The workmanship is excellant and I wear these boots daily, even on my days off. I get more than a years hard wear on a pair. The boot requires no break-in time, just ready for you to lace up, find a trail head and enjoy your adventure. Have Happy, Safe Trails!

Hiking Boots That Fit
I have problem foot joints and have found it nearly impossible to find shoes or hiking books that do not create pain across the toe joints. These Lowa boots are one of the very few that come in a wide width. They incorporate a soft leather that almost immediately starts to conform to your feet. I've been "breaking them in " for only three days, and they feel more comfortable each day. They are extremely well desined and well made - there are no mismatches of materials. The lacings are slightly smaller in diameter than I am accustomed to, but will have to see how they stand up over longer use. I researched this brand after my wife had bought a Lowa Renegade which fit her very well and stood up nicely to moderate hiking demands. I was impressed by the high quality of the design and manufacturing then and am pleased to see that they are still producing a quality boot in the 7 years hence.

These are my second pair of Lowa Renegades. Very comfortable boots which are very light weight, well made, attractively styled, and provide adequate ankle support when carrying up to a 40 lb pack over moderately technical trails. Gore-tex models are also waterproof up to the tongue gusset (approx. 5-6 inches deep). Criticisms are as follows: 1) due to the padding on the tongue, they are a little more difficult to cinch tightly around the ankle compared with either my Salomon Quest 4D's or Asolo's but they are more comfortable than both - recommend tying off below the first set of hooks (mid boot) before continuing to secure the laces up to the top. 2) If the laces loosen because they weren't cinched sufficiently tight (see criticism #1) it is easy to catch the lace on the opposite boot and trip yourself (embarrassing!!!). Follow the lacing recommendations given to avoid this epic fail! 3) The treads offer good traction on loose aggregate, mud, and rock but get slippery very quickly when encountering snow. I think part of this has to do with the fact that the tread compound appears to harden in colder temperatures. Great boots for late spring through autumn however.
