Good film, also Downey before the nose job when his nose suited his face most. 👍

Strange, dark thriller.
Dark, semi-horror, thriller. Strangely compelling. Annette Benning is her usual amazing self. Is it wrong that I wanted her to end up with Robert Downey Jr.?!!!!!

Good Thriller
This is an interesting psychological thriller. It requires some attention to the plot and allowance for a bit of poetic licence with the screenplay. There will be some scenes where you might say "But how could that happen" but if you just go with the flow, it is a very enjoyable film. Not super scary, but thought provoking.

Not that bad....but not that great
In Dreams centres on a housewife in New England who has dreams (or premonitions) from time to time. After her daughter is kidnapped and murdered, she is convinced that she has a psychic link to the killer and as she tries to convince people that something is wrong no-one believes her, and even her own husband thinks she is going crazy. The film has drama, suspense and thriller elements within it. I would say it is more creepy than scary and it is not a fantastic film that you will watch over and over, but it is worth a watch, even if it is just to see Robert Downey Jnr's performance as the killer with a red wig!

Under-rated gem
This film was savaged by the critics at the time it came out, which is a shame as that may have kept people from watching this dark, weird, spooky thriller with its starry cast and lush production design. It's far and away the best performance Annette Bening has committed to film, and one of the best portrayals of a woman having a nervous breakdown that I've ever seen. Haunted by visions and dreams, Claire is propelled by terrible experiences through her journey, but never seems weak or helpless. This is such a stark contrast to the typical scream queen heroines of horror films that I think some reviewers just couldn't appreciate this character.I saw this when it came out because it was a Neil Jordan film, and "The Company of Wolves" will always be one of my absolute favourite films. I've watched "In Dreams" at least 3 times since then, and it always draws me in.Robert Downey Jr doesn't seem to have been in a good place when he worked on this, but he is excellent as the psycho killer. The scenes of the drowned city are so haunting... This is well worth a watch.
