I'm not often compelled to write a review but I will for this item. Upon receiving and handling this item I was immediately hit with buyer's remorse. I paid for a flat stick. It feels like one side is much rougher than the other, as if someone didn't have the time or inclination to take a couple more swipes across it with sandpaper. A handmade wooden item should feel good in the hand. For me, this doesn't.

This was my first purchase form Earlywood but not my last. I have quit a bit of cast iron and porcelain covered cast iron cookware. Using a metal tool on these types of surfaces is not the best idea. My wooden utensils are around 20 years old and need to be replaces. I took a chance on the Earlywood spatula and I am impressed by the build, ease of use and even the way Earlywood packages the spatula for shipping. I have been using the spatula for a month now and it has handled frying, braising, vegetable cooking and even gravy making with ease. Totally worth the price.

I LOVE this utensil. I had a less expensive bamboo one that I used for years that was lost in my move so I figured it was time to step up to the real deal. Great weight, fits in the hand, & is comfortable to use for long cooking sessions. I will definitely be buying a second set.My only “complaint” is the color. I ordered the Mexican ebony assuming by the pics it was a rich black color & it’s not. It’s more a blackish brown red. Deal killer? Absolutely not. Cause for reduced stars? Nope But had I known I’d have bought the maple.

Such beautiful presentation, I felt it was from a high end store. The tool itself is beautiful, and very well designed. Already my favorite tool. It is sturdy for how thin it is. A great gift for a home chef.

I love this new addition to my kitchen tools. It’s packaged with care and includes a small abrasive pad for priming before seasoning with oil.Since I’ve never used anything like it, becoming accustomed to the grip and length took a few days of use.I plan on purchasing Earlywood’s smaller tools in the future.

I just received these gorgeous tools ... I bought two of them so I could get more versatility out of their use. I'm so happy I bought them; I ordered them in Mexican Ebony, and the wood is so smooth, small-pored and the finish is just a sleek as satin. The forward edge of these spatulas are thin and I can see they should have no problem slipping under food in the skillet, yet the blade of the spatula is wide enough to provide plenty of purchase on food, for a variety of uses. I CAN'T WAIT TO USE THEM! With proper care, these should last for years and years.

Beautiful wood! You'll either love or hate the shape as with most non traditionally shaped tools or utensils, I for one think it's great. I just treated mine with oil (I take pride in caring for my wooden tools and cutting boards. Everything stays oiled and sometimes I use a little bees wax on them). I have some minor concerns about how thin the edge gets to but I don't plan on overly abusing it and regardless the concerns have so far been unfounded. I plan to use it for every day use. If it continues to hold up well, I plan to purchase more in a few weeks.

This is a terrific kitchen tool. It can be used in countless ways. It works better than a spatula for scraping the bowl it also works really good for making scrambled eggs.It is beautiful. Donating 1$ of the sale is a selling point as well. Great value, very versatile too.

Fast delivery, arrived packaged just as founder/maker Brad Bernhart said it would. Used it to scramble eggs in a cast iron skillet, it was easy to use, no sticking, scrapping, easy to clean, all I can say about this untensil is welcome to the family!
