These are great spoons! I bought them to be expendable and throw in the dishwasher despite being wood, but they’ve actually turned out to be a hidden favorite. They’re a great length and have a solid heft to them. I especially love using them for baking and mixing batter. They’re the exact wooden spoon you envision someone using when you read to stir with a wooden spoon in a recipe.

I was trying to think of what to say in this review about wood spoons. I mean pretty much everybody knows what they are for so I did a little googling and found out a few things. But before I go into that part one thing I wanted to say is what I like best is the size I ordered which was 14”. I find that the perfect height for most every day cooking. The second thing is I like that they’re six of them. My daughter and her family moved in with me about a year ago, maybe a year a little longer. She has several kids, but two of them are teenage boys one who’s about to turn 18. Most of the time we all prepare our own meals. Sometimes I cook for the whole family and my daughter as well, but she works nights, so she’s often not home at dinner time. With everyone cooking and picking and putting dishes away and things like that, I find very often things aren’t where I always kept them because they don’t know where they go though you would think they would after a little over a year. It’s a little frustrating when I can’t find things at times. That’s why the six pack is great because I can just put one or two in the kitchen at a time.I’m curious how many people know how to take care of spoons. Among the things I learned in my googling time was that wood spoons or naturally antibacterial. You shouldn’t put them in the dishwasher or leave them soaking in the sink and you should dry them flat, not upright. Drawing them flat prevents them from warping which they can do if you store them upright.I also learned that there is a TikTok trend going, where they suggest that you boil your wood spoons to clean them. That is something that can cause your experience to split or warp the article. I read, suggested that you really shouldn’t do it but if you do not to do it more than once a month. I think I will just go with not doing it. Another piece of advice is do not wash wooden spoons in a dishwasher. It can cause them to warp or the wood can split. If you notice your spoon is getting rough around the edges you can lightly sand them. I personally use 400 grit sandpaper on mine.I have always coated my wood spoons with vegetable oil when I first get them and then I apply it about every three months because I do use my spoons often. You can use other food safe oils ans well. I read that it was actually better to use food safe mineral oil, but I didn’t find out why. How often you should oil wooden spoons varies by things like how often you use them and where you live. I read that if you live where the climate is drier you should oil your spoons more frequently and if you live in a place that has cooler, wetter or more humid climate you don’t need to do it as often.You can The final thing I found out that I did not know was how to remove lingering outer that stay on the spoon at times after you watch them. For example, when you’re stirring onions. The way to get rid of the odor I read was to sprinkle salt on the surface of the spoon and let it sit for a few minutes. Then take half a lemon and rub it into the salt. After rubbing the salt in with half of a lemon. Once finished you can rinse and dry your spoons.I hope you have found my tips to be useful and they help you give your wooden spoons a nice long life.

These long-handle cooking spoons are super handy for stirring soups, sauces, and stews. The handles are a nice length, keeping your hands away from heat, and the material feels sturdy and durable. They’re also lightweight and easy to clean, which is a big plus. I’m giving 4 stars only because one of the spoons had a slight rough edge on the handle, but it didn’t affect use. Overall, great value and really functional for everyday cooking!

The length of the entire spoon plus handle is 12 inches. I thought the handle would be 12 inches long. Oh well. I will still keep them but I also need a longer handled spoon for large pots.
