Fantastic! Stylish! Effective!
Wow! What a stylish item. Bought to replace an original Mouli grater- which had reached its end- and what a difference! Much sharper wheel, easy to assemble and to clean. A real design classic too. Worth every penny ( mouli grater was over 40 years old)

great addition to any kitchen!
this is definitely the future of cheese grating! its incredible, and so easy to use. It comes with the handle, and two different blade sets. The twisting handle is part of the blade set, and not the main handle, so it swings out of the way when you need to store it. But the blades are really sharp and it goes through cheese, and other vegetables, like nothing. I do find that you have to cut the items into more manageable sizes before starting, as the handle opens to reveal an insertion hole for the cheese, and the handle gets gripped tightly and acts as the pincher. But this isn't a problem when preparing food. it just means you cannot shove an entire block into it in one go. But i was really surprised at how fine it is able to grate it. One small square covers over double what i'd usually cover with my old grater. Its really easy to take apart, and although their are quite a few nooks and crannies, it isn't that hard to clean either. We do usually wash it by hand, but i'm sure it'll be fine in a dishwasher,as its nearly all plastic. But i think it makes a fine addition to any kitchen. The only downside, is that it doesn't come with a storage bag or box for the blades. Because it comes with two, only one is left in the handle, so the other goes loose in the drawer next to it. It would be better if it could be protected from fingers digging around, but you just have to be more mindful of this when rummaging.

rotary great grater
I bought this to replace a broken rotary grater I had had for 8 years. I chose this rotary grater because of the brand, Zyliss. It's made of plastic and silicon and has small and large Zyliss grater drums. The grater is easy to assemble and washes great in the dishwasher and sink. The fine grater is very fine and the large grater is good for most things. The small grater is great for Parmesan, cinnamon sticks , nutmeg, the large grater is good for cheese, cabbage, carrot and beetroot. I gave it 4 stars because the handle is small and does not lock into place. I am pleased with my purchase.

Good, but a bit flimsy
The grater works well, especially for grating harder cheeses like parmesan, but the catch on the turning handle on the coarse drum broke after just a couple of weeks. I can still use it, but it's now much more fiddly to operate.

Disappointing design from Zyliss
Other reviews have descripted this Zyliss rotary grater ( Zyliss E900011 Acid Etched Rotary Fine and Coarse Drum Grater, White) so I won't repeat these details. I've had a number of rotary graters, all succumbing to the same fault - the plastic handles on the drums break.I bought the Zyliss grater because I have other Zyliss gadgets whose quality and design is good; the handle of the rotary drums looked sturdy and I assumed the sharpness of the 'blades' would make quick work of hard cheese. However, the 'clamp' part of the grater that holds the cheese in the feeder is hinged the wrong way (i.e. hinged from the part where you hold the grater rather than from the grating end) and it's very hard to apply enough pressure to get the decent downward force you get with rotary graters hinged the other way (at the grating end). I gave the grater one go with parmesan, which is what I bought it for, and decided to return it. Using the grater hurt my hand trying to hold the 'clamp' part down. Also the drum was quite hard to turn (mentioned by another reviewer). The handles on the rotary drums look sturdy in the pictures but I found they are hinged (for easy storage inside the drum). There's a spring inside the hinge and it seems to me that this will break after time. I was looking for a rotary grate without plastic handles on the grating drums because they break so easily. However, given the low cost of rotary graters hinged at the grating end, I think I'll be ordering one of those and accept the handle will break after a while (a waste of metal but before the handles break they do the job). While I don't have arthritis, I'd say avoid this Zyliss product if you do!.

Rather expensive but a potentially good investment for grated cheese lovers
It makes grated cheese with so little effort and no mess for cleaning up afterwards, I just love it. It can be setup for left- or right-handed operation. But it can be tricky to operate to some as on one hand you need to hold, press cheese down to the grater cylinder and hold the position of the grater opening to where you want the grated cheese to go. You then use the other hand to turn the grater cylinder handle to produce grated cheese. Skilful hands would definitely help or may be a few practices. The press handle can be tricky to clean as cheese can stick here and there in the chamber where it takes cheese in but you’ll be fine with a small brush/toothbrush; the grater cylinder isn’t anymore difficult to clean than regular graters, I hold the two ends of it with my fingers and brush it with soapy water. If you plan to wash it in a dishwasher, read the instructions before you do so as the grater cylinder can damage coating of a dishwasher tray. I don’t wash it after one use but put it in a bowl or something like that and leave it in the fridge if I would use it the following day. Thought it make it easy to get small amount of grated cheese without making a mess. Without it I tend to grate entire piece of hard cheese, save the grated cheese in a shaker bottle that I don’t know how soon I could finish and leave a bit of a mess to clean up afterwards. I could now cut a small piece of hard cheese and leave the rest fresh for grating next time I need. I do think this is a good investment to me but do require skilful hands or a few practices for the intended purpose.

Comes with 2 grating wheels, this is a fantastic tool to grate fresh parmigiano reggiano onto your meals. This is the 2nd one of these I've owned; the first one was stolen by a roommate. it's very durable/well made, strong plastic (I tend to kind of manhandle my tools). Upper level dishwasher save incl grating wheels and body of grater. Kinda also just nice to look at, it's pretty. Easy to clean-every surface is easily accessable if you want to hand wash. For the dishwasher I just open the device like a pair of scissors and lay it on the top rack. really, just a nice tool. Oh, you can put the blades in either for Right handed folks or us lefties. Get it.
