Great for power outages. Provides enough heat for our entire home.
I purchased the 25k BTU propane unit for emergency use during power outages and for supplemental heat when it is extremely cold. This does not come with the equipment necessary to attach it to a 20 lb propane tank. To use it with one, I also purchased a 3/8" Flare x 3/8" NPT Male brass 90 degree elbow, and a 12 FT Propane Regulator Hose with female flare nut end. The 90 degree elbow is necessary if you plan to sit the unit on the ground using the provided feet without elevating it since the propane hose connection is on the very bottom of the unit. Without the elbow, there is not enough floor clearance to accommodate the propane hose without kinking it. The unit does come with wall mounting brackets which you could chose to use instead of the feet which would allow you to bypass the clearance issue. DO NOT START THIS UNIT INSIDE THE FIRST TIME YOU USE IT. There is a very thin oil layer covering the internal components which burns off in the first few minutes of operation, but this does cause an uncomfortable amount of smoke if it's in an enclosed space and will set off any smoke alarms in the area. Be warned that the first time you start this after assembly it does take much longer to actually fire up. The instruction unit mentions this. The startup procedure involves setting the thermostat knob to "pilot" then pressing it down and holding it down while hitting the piezoelectric ignition button, causing a spark which should light the pilot. During typical operation this is a less than 30 second process, but for the first time operation I had to hold it down for upwards of 10 minutes while periodically pressing the ignition button. I was at the point where I was concerned the unit was broken, but I could visibly see the spark and could hear the extremely faint hiss from the pilot, so I persisted and was eventually successful. If you let this unit sit disconnected from propane you may have to hold down the thermostat knob for several minutes again to start it up, but I've never had it take as long as the first time start up. I presume it's something to do with the factory lubrication that causes initial ignition issues. The unit has an oxygen depletion sensor, but I also purchased a separate carbon monoxide detector than can run on battery power for peace of mind. Even though the unit is simple and well built, I still wouldn't leave it running unattended for safety reasons. This has the same downsides as any other unvented propane heater which you should consider before you decide to purchase a heater of this type. Even when functioning perfectly, there is a very slight propane scent generated by the unit particularly when first started. I don't think you can get away from this with any unvented unit, but again it's very faint and something you immediately become "nose blind" to after a few minutes. Propane provides a "wet" heat, meaning it produces water vapor when used which may increase the humidity in your home. This may or may not be a problem with the climate/humidity levels in your area. This probably isn't a issue for occasional emergency power outage use, but if you plan on running this unit often, consider your ventilation options and if you want to pair this with some kind of dehumidifier. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the unit and would purchase it again. It generates enough heat to heat our home by itself. Having this allows us to use a smaller, more efficient generator to run our important appliances like fridge/freezer during power outages while we let this unit handle heat.

Awesome little heater!!!
This little heater works great. I have an old 85 20ft camper and this heater kept it at 72 degrees while it was 2 degrees with 15mph winds outside. I also have a carbon monoxide alarm and it has never registered anything other than zeros.

Nothing but trouble, bad warranty processes
So I purchased the 10,000 BTU propane ventless heater in late October didn’t get the proper lines all hooked up the way I liked in my RV till about a month later hooked it up. There was a long delay in the thermostat and you could definitely smell and hear the propane coming out, but it was not lighting Instead of spending the money to send it. I took it to a local propane shop that deals with their competitor, they clean the burner pilot and also hooked it up too many different size propane tanks with different regulators that they know worked and the same delay and smell of propane with all that continued Contacted. The company went through all their troubleshooting. Something you must know is that to do any warranty work they want you to get a pressure reading on the propane system you’re hooking up to this is irrelevant for me because I took it to the shop. They hooked it up to different tanks of all sizes to have a gas company come out. It’s over $200 to do this the tool to do it yourself is 50 or $60 but they want a professional reading and you have to send proof of that basically making $130 unit worthless in any which way to ever get warranty work done another thing in several places they advertise made in America. This was the only made in America when I could find and that is why I bought it but when I got it it said made in China on the tag. Don’t know how they get away with this. Also in small writing it says you need 100 pound tank to run it properly. I believe this is just a scam so they get out of their warranty work. This is far from the standard and most people do not have hundred pound propane tanks and no other of the competitors require this which seems like just a another way for them to get out of their warranty work. Anyway, after all the time and money I’ve spent on this I would stay far away and go with their competitor. What a waste of time and money.
