Storytelling at its finest
I feel rather silly reviewing a work by a writer the caliber of Rudyard Kipling who deserved the Nobel Prize in Literature that he was awarded in 1907. I only expected to read The Jungle Book as I was curious as to Kipling’s style of short story writing. I’d seen the Disney movie and read some abbreviated children bedtime editions. He is nothing shy of a remarkable writer in that he captures the idiosyncratic movements of the animals so well and gives them credible voices! This book turned out to be a compendium of short stories – a story of a seal, a mongoose, a bird, the son of a mahout, elephant, and of a camel, each a wonderful tale artfully penned. Kipling is one of the finest, and the illustrations in The Jungle Book are delightful.

Illustrated classic
Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book is a classic in English literature. The story of a young boy brought up by wolves in the jungle and how he is able to relate closely to all the animals around him. He had conflicts with Shere Khan and Kaa and the King of the Orangutans, but because he is able to use his wits, Mowgli is a survivor and he follows the Law of the Jungle. This version of The Jungle Book has been beautifully illustrated. The drawings add depth to the meaning of the story and help bring the characters to life. I recommend this version of The Jungle Book as a gift and for reading, as it is pure delight.

Profits My Mind
This was a very interesting jump back into time and perspective. Rudyard Kipling has some great insight and narratives within his Jungle Book. I enjoyed the most hearing about Mowgli and the world he lived in and would recommend this book to those who asked me what I had been reading. It is a part of history and a necessary piece of curriculum I would say for those who want to know whose shoulders our authors stand on in the literary realm. There are many admirable characters to root for in this title and my contemplation of the ideas within this book woven into the story is very profitable to one’s mind in any century.

Great Book
The pictures are fine. There are a couple of drawings of Mowgli as a young naked boy. Nothing weird about it .... Nothing inappropriate. I was not expecting the other tales included in the book so I was happily surprised.

Parents beware
I ordered this for a children's book club thinking that the "original" artwork would be fun for kids to see, however, Mowgli is nude with many non-discrete pictures. If that is not what you want, then you should look for a different version

Classic and Commanding
This is a classic for a reason! The language is sweeping and commanding, the characters epic and knowable! The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and add so much to the experience of reading the book! It was fun to read the book and see the differences from the Disney animation. A great read for kids and adults alike!
