Lethal Licorice (An Amish Candy Shop Mystery)

The Dark Ending
On a scale of one to ten I would rate this book a ten. We do stars on Goodreads so I rated it with a five. Amanda Flower kept readers in the dark to the very end of the last chapter and when I say in the dark I mean that literally as you will find out when you come to the last chapter. A good mystery always keeps readers guessing whodunit and usually it's someone you never even thought about. The author didn't disappoint this reader and I was kept guessing to the very end. In my opinion that's what makes a real good cozy mystery.Bailey King takes her late grandfather's place in the Amish Confectionery Competition being held that year in Harvest Ohio. She is representing Swissmens Sweets candy shop in the hopes of at least winning in the fudge competition. A feisty Amish woman objects to Bailey participating in the competition because she isn't Amish, but it was agreed that she could take her grandfather's place since he died after he had entered. Later this same feisty Amish woman, Josephine Weaver, is found dead inside the churches pipe organ. Bailey becomes a suspect because she had argued with the deceased at the competition shortly before she,the Amish woman, turned up dead. Bailey must find clues that lead to the real killer, to prove her innocence.Juliet Brody is devastated when she loses Jethro, her potbelly pet pig. He seems to have disappeared in thin air and even though everyone has been searching for him he is nowhere to be found. Juliet is beside herself and seeks comfort from the churches pastor, Rev. Brook. Could Jethro have been killed by a wild animal or was he kidnapped by someone? Bailey King tries to help Juliet find her pig even though she is busy with the competition and also trying to follow clues that might lead to finding the murderer of Josephine Weaver. Everything seems to be up in the air with the ACC. taking place in the town square, a murder investigation and the search for Jethro the pig. Will things ever return to normal in the small Amish Community of Harvest Ohio?If you love Cozy Mysteries you will love book two of Amish Candy Shop Mystery. It can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading book one first since its a very good start to the series and characters are carried over to book two. I highly recommend it for your reading pleasure.I purchased a Kindle ebook copy of Lethal Licorice from Amazon. A favorable review was not requested. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Licorice delights pigs and Amish life
The story was good but a bit slow. The disappearing old woman was a good add in . The development of Bailey and Aiden is worth reading another Amish mystery combined with candy a sure winner

A Sweet Read
Bailey has stayed in Harvest, OH after the death of her Daadi (grandfather) to her Maami (grandmother) run the family candy shop, Swissmen Sweets. Her grandfather was to participate in the highly competitive Amish Confectionery Competition and the judges have allowed Bailey to take his place. On the first day of the competition Bailey has a run in with a rival Amish candy shop owner, Josephine Weaver. Also, the town's beloved polka-dotted pig, Jethro, has gone missing and his owner, Juliet, is distraught with worry. As Bailey looks for Jethro she unfortunately finds the body of Josephine. Will the police, particularly Aiden, be suspicious of her once again?Whenever I am stressed I like to turn to cozy mysteries and Amish fiction. When you put the two of them together I am one happy reader. Amanda Flower has perfected the craft of writing Amish cozy mysteries. You are instantly transported to Harvest, OH into Bailey's world as soon as you open the book. The details are rich with beauty and flavor. You can almost taste the candy Bailey and the others are making. It is a guarantee you will be craving whatever Bailey and her grandmother are making. Right now I want licorice and taffy. YUM!Not only is there a murder mystery going on there is also a young Amish girl that Bailey meets that is trying to decide her path in life, stay Amish or leave or faith. The care and compassion shown from Bailey and her grandmother is the true spirit of helping one another. You will be moved like I was. There is a small romance between Bailey and Aiden brewing but it does not take over the main story. They are both taking their time until they move to the next step. Aiden seems like the perfect match for Bailey. He lets her explore but is always around to help her pick up the pieces.I cannot review the book without a blurb about Jethro. Who can resist a polka-dotted pig? This pig lives the perfect life. He is doted on like a king by his mom, Juliet and she just so happens to be Aiden's mom and one of Bailey's close friends in Harvest, OH. I found myself worrying about Jethro being lost in the dark and cold even when I was not reading. I absolutely love how Amanda Flower gives true personality to her animal characters. To me that shows she has a beautiful heart.I am very excited to see the next adventure of Bailey and friends and to see where the romance is headed. Hurry and get your copy today from your favorite bookseller. If you have not read the first book, Assaulted Caramel, you should buy it also. Make it a sweet weekend of reading.

Absolutely a series I cant live without!
Lethal Licorice by Amanda Flower was awesome! The entire Amish Candy Shop mystery series by Amanda Flower is a series I just CANNOT put down! If I MUST put it down for some reason, then I am constantly thinking about it, all the characters, the story line etc ... what's happening next? Then I just have to get my book and prop it up in front of me while I'm cooking so I can read it at the same time! I hope this series has serious longevity, 50 books isnt too much to ask at all ... keep them coming Mrs. Flower, you hooked me on Page 1 of Assaulted Caramel!

I didn't understand the concept of the book but I ...
I didn't understand the concept of the book but I will read it again to make sure I didn't miss important facts. It seemed a bit odd the way the lead character did anything whether it was making candy or investigating the murder.
