Product: 7x5 (?) chocolate brown leather journal with metal clasp and ragged edges paper. - Packing was minimally secure (in the soft, thinest version of Amazon plastic bags) - Journal itself in a clear plastic bag with no receipt, care instructions, catalogue with other items that one could buy, or tools that are recommended (pencil? Fountain pen? Watercolor? Other?) Adding these would increase sales! - Also, no specifications about quality/weight of paper (Acid free? Cotton? Rice?), paper size, number of pages. - One color card inside with a short curtesy message and picture of an artisan at work. THE JOURNAL: As most positive reviews describe, great product. - Strong leather smell (no chemicals). - Pages have a texture as if made of cotton. Cheaper models from same maker come with smooth paper, smooth ages, less aged look. - Antiqued/yellowed paper but not bright orange or weird shade. Looks like aged paper. - Paper has irregular borders adding to the old look. - Each page is different (hand made) and every now and then the mark of the clip that hung them up to dry is visible, adding to the effect. - Not excessive wrinkling or imperfections that may hinder journaling or painting, and no bugs or mold. - Each notebook comes with a dry pack to keep it from molding. - The two I ordered in same chocolate brown color are within the dark brown expected, yet different from each other. Neither had a flat homogeneous, fake or over-processed leather look. The leather feels great outside and inside. - Pages are well sewn - Hardware is aged bronze color, OK quality. Personally I don’t care for the metal closure and would’ve preferred the same rugged edges notebook just with a long strap to wrap around, but I’ll take it because the whole journal is absolutely beautiful. Since this is a gift, I will write on an insert the description from Amazon about acid free, handmade, weight, type of leather and care. Again, it would be nice if instead of the current one, the company would show their pride in their craftsmanship by describing, in a card the same size, type if leather and treatment details (for those with allergies or other health issues), correct care, type of paper, recommended pens, paints, glues, other models and sizes available. All and all a great product, well made and beautiful to hold or watch.

I bought four of these for gifts. I was very pleased with the appearance and the quality. The pages are nice and thick and have such a nice feel to them. The binding is beautiful. I am sure my friends will be using these for years.

My daughter likes writing in this book. From what I can tell there’s not a ton of bleed through and it’s very durable. She seems to be very satisfied with the paper thickness and I am satisfied with the value for the money. The color of the paper in the binding are very cool and contemporary.

I had my eye on this sketchbook for months. My husband got it for me for Christmas and I adore it. This company makes excellent paper. It takes watercolor, paint, and ink like a champ and looks amazing while doing it. I love how it feels. This is by far the best sketchbook I’ve ever had

Beautifully handcrafted. Just as I expected. My only complaint is the packaging. It was shipped in a thin clear plastic wrap and it arrived torn open. Luckily it was damaged. If you're expected to pay this kind of money for something you would expect it to show up in something a little more sturdy, like a box.

Bought to journal my knitting patterns with notes on yarn and needles used and final product. Comments to comments: 1). This is not a petroleum plastic book. It smells like real tanned saddle leather. 2) the page edges are not dirty, they have been dyed 3) the clasp doesn’t bang on anything. You have the book backwards and upside down

This is such a beautiful book. Honored my dad’s time served in the Vietnam war by placing all of his pictures from that time in it. As well as his medals. It’s beautifully made, well designed and solid. The old paper inside gives it just the right nostalgic touch. Highly recommend!
