Very happy with this projector
I was going to buy something cheaper but I ended up paying about $700 extra and going with this because we do some gaming. I don't use the included Android TV dongle, so this review is not relevant on that front. This is installed in a dedicated movie room receiving a signal from an Dolby Atmos receiver. We have an Xbox, a Switch, and main TV is supplied by a Google Chromecast. Interestingly, the Chromecast supplies a 4k signal no matter what the native quality is, so it always runs in 4k unless we are on a game. We really love this projector, it is so bright, we run it on eco mode all the time, and it's still bright enough to watch with the limited lighting on in the room. The picture is crisp, and with the vertical adjustment, it is really easy to get installed without using Keystone which reduces performance. We have it mounted on the ceiling. It starts up very quickly, however, with the connection it needs to make to the Chromecast, it's not really much faster than our old bulb-type projector, in the long run. It's just usable at full brightness faster. What I'm saying is, it starts up fast, but takes the same amount of time to connect. It does occasionally lose signal, but I cannot confirm where the source of that issue is. It reconnects in 15-20 seconds. Happens every couple days or so, could be the long cables, could be a bad connection, I don't know. It's not a major issue, and hasn't happened while gaming, only movies, so it may be a 4k transmission issue. It's very quiet. It is large for a projector in my experience, the box is about twice as large as our former projector. As for the value, I think it was worth it, I'm glad I bought it. That being said, I don't know how the other one I would have bought would have compared. I wish there were a few more settings like our old projector, but we haven't really needed to adjust anything. Maybe it's not the most perfect real life accurate color, but it's bright and vivid and awesome for watching movies and shows. And it seems like it makes Rocket League more responsive, that may be the low latency, I don't know, I'm not an expert. Very happy with this purchase, would buy again.

Stunning Visuals and Immersive Gaming Experience - BenQ X3000i Exceeds Expectations!
I recently upgraded my gaming setup with the BenQ X3000i True 4K UHD 4LED Gaming Projector, and it has been an outstanding experience. One of the most impressive aspects is its incredible brightness and color accuracy. Even without a traditional projector screen, projecting directly onto a wall, the image quality is stunning – the 3000 lumens brightness and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut bring games and movies to life with vivid, crisp visuals. With that being said, I would definitely like it even better if it had auto focus, but the focus dial is intuitive and easy to use so no point off in my opinion. It has been very quiet, and outside of start-up you can barely hear it when watching a movie or playing a game. The built-in 10W TreVolo speakers provide decent audio quality, but since it has eARC support you're better off driving high-quality audio through external speakers or a sound system. The BenQ X3000i really shines when it comes to gaming. The 1080p 240Hz capability and a low 4.2ms response time create an ultra-smooth, lag-free gaming experience, perfect for fast-paced action. I don't personally use the game modes, defaulting to HDR10 on all devices, but they could be useful for some people - especially for competitive FPS. The integration of Android TV offers convenient access to streaming apps, and it works as expected - this is also something I don't use as I have a GoogleTV/AppleTV hooked to my Onkyo receiver. Overall, It's a top-notch choice for gamers and movie enthusiasts alike. I am definitely a projector and BenQ fan now!

It’s AMAZING!
The video should speak for itself. I’m using a cheap pull down projector screen, the projector is only 10ft away, and the room isn’t pitch black. It looks phenomenal. The colors, the brightness, the sharpness, the contrast - it’s as good as my $4000 Samsung QLED TV, and it could get even better with a higher quality projector screen. I haven’t tried gaming on it yet, but I’m confident it’ll hold up well. Only downside is that the remote control/Android TV is quite slow, but I’m going to hook up my Apple TV which should speed up content browsing. I recommend asking ChatGPT for help getting the right projector for your screen size and throw distance. This projector works perfectly for me, but may not for you. I’m going to sleep with these rain videos up every night.

Good, but not Great
This has a great picture, sound could be better, setting up was a breeze, but with HDMI 2.0 lacks the next Gen feel I have a very high end pc, so the lack of 2.1 really hurt. BenQ offers settingsXchange but with few games available. No ethernet so a high speed internet is recommended. 3d was good enough. For the price you get better projectors with 120hz refresh rate and ethernet connections and HDMI 2.1. Picture quality was good in semi dark room, better in the dark

Incredible Picture
Is it expensive? Yes. Do I still get blown away by the picture every time I use it? Also yes. Obviously not for everyone, but this projector is incredible. Quiet, small, fairly easy to set up. We use it for PS5, Switch, Roku viewing and everyone that sees it is shocked. Incredible brightness while maintaining great black levels, zero jitter/artifacts/ghosting on fast moving sports or video games. If you can afford it, get it.

They launched an unfinished product.
I purchased this projector for my bedroom where I have an eaved ceiling. I've used a TV in this room in the past(A 49" Sony x900e) but based on the room layout, the TV was always on the far left wall and sort of angled out towards us in bed. It didn't look good and its position always left our necks kinked. A projector in this space made a whole ton of sense. I can place the projector at the foot of the bed angled up at the eave of the ceiling where it can project a 90 inch screen perfectly centered on our wall at an angle that's VERY comfortable for viewing. And this projector seemed like it was the right choice. All the specs on paper said as much: I was looking for a 4k projector that was either Laser or LED(of which this is the latter), one that sported a high ANSI lumen count, low input lag, support eARC, and had a short enough throw distance where the screen would be large enough where it becomes worth the effort (given the 7 1/2 foot throw distance, this screen projects something like 86 inches of screen). The story then changed the moment it arrived. I ended up returning this projector for the Optoma UTZ50 and hopefully by the end of this review, you will see why. The good: There is no doubt about it! The way BENQ approached image quality is top notch. GIven the 4-LED design, the colors were vibrant and bright. When compared to the Optoma UTZ50 (it being a laser projector), the x3000i has a fuzzier image than the UTZ50 but the colors were more pronounced. When it comes to resolution, the Optoma UTZ50 edged out the BENQ because the Optoma would support 1440p@120 hz where the BENQ only supported 1080p@120hz. It probably supports 240hz but i never connected my computer up to test it! The BENQ also supported game mode at 120hz on all of its inputs on the back which is great. The same can't be said for the Optoma. The Optoma only supports game mode on one of its ports which frustratingly also happens to be the eARC port. So in this regard, win for the x3000i. The Annoying: I knew what i was getting into when i selected a DLP projector, however, the rainbow effect is definitely present here. A lot of reviewers say they dont notice it. I do. And it can pull you out of a scene you're watching. Bummer. This is also true of the UTZ50 (and other DLP 4k projectors)... so again, i knew what i was getting myself into. The x3000i also only has really 2 ports on the back where the UTZ50 has 3. There is a 3rd port for the included android-based dongle for streaming, however, it's in a weird spot and requires you to take the top off the thing in order to get at it. Kind of a waste of a port in my opinion. Just put it in the back and include the streaming tech in your product, BENQ. THE REALLY BAD: The Firmware for this product came with v1.0. This is not the current version of firmware. In order to update the firmware of the device, YOU HAVE TO SEND IT TO BENQ, GIVE THEM 2 WEEKS ONCE THEY'VE RECEIVED IT TO UPDATE IT, THEN WAIT FOR THEM TO SEND IT BACK. I'm sorry... but this is 2023. It is so anti-consumer of BENQ to not allow firmware updates to be performed by the user. This by itself is reason enough for me to want to return this product. But to add insult to injury, the "Why" I needed to update the firmware makes it so much worse. On v1.0, there is a fatal flaw with its implementation of device CEC/eARC where after two minutes from booting, the bluetooth controller connected to the paired to the streaming stick no longer will control the projector options of the device. And to make it worse, it seems that this bug ALSO disables the rear infrared sensor on the back of the unit. So... two minutes in, the remote is now useless if you're behind the device requiring you to get up to do anything with it whilst also jockeying all the remotes in the world. This also remains true if you flat out remove the included streaming stick. This thing just doesn't want to play ball. Imagine having to get out of bed every time you want to change sources or turn the thing off? NOPE. It also doesnt allow control of the volume of the soundbar through eARC. GUH. Use Optical? No. Optical wont pass ATMOS to the soundbar - only 5.1. ALSO a fatal flaw of this v1.0 firmware is that the AutoKeystone is on by default. Because my projector is projecting on to an eave of the ceiling, it's always at a 45° angle. It's internal sensor is anticipating i'm aiming this thing at a flat wall and is trying to compensate accordingly; but, by compensating for the elevation, the projector messes up the picture . Okay so I disable it. Problem Solved? No. Now, if I go into gaming mode to play a game then switch BACK to Standard to watch Netflix on my PS5, the x3000i RE-ENABLES AUTOKEYSTONE. WHAT? Who at BENQ thought THAT was a good idea? So I contact BENQ, they're like "Send it to us. We will update the firmware and send it back to you". Would you send it to BENQ? On the hope that their firmware will magically fix the problems? Pushing you past your window to be able to return it in the first place? I went on to amazon and purchased the Optoma UTZ50 which was 700$ off and now the same price as the BENQ. It's smaller than the BENQ by a mile, has 3 ports on the back, can support more resolutions with the same latency, can be turned on/off by Alexa, has a 10° vertical lens shift function, is a laser projector rated for continuous play, no weird auto keystone function messing with my life... way better experience. The Optoma UTZ50 isn't perfect mind you. The Android OS has its quirks and feels a bit aged, The picture isn't quite as good (but still looks awesome), the HDMI functions not being consistent on all ports is super frustrating. But this isn't a review of the Optoma UTZ50. This is the review of the BenQ x3000i. And my guidance would be to save yourself from aggravations and frustrations and go with something else.

4K Short Throw Projector With Plenty to Offer - Highly Recommended
I purchased this 4K short throw projector for my garage/mancave, as the garage motor on the ceiling prevented a standard throw projector. I am displaying the projector image on a 150" screen from 8ft 3inches away, and could not be happier with the quality of picture out of the box. Very little adjusting is needed to get a good picture, and setup was straight forward with no issues. This is a great projector for home theater and gaming. The projector recognized my PS5 and Nintendo Switch once plugged in, and automatically adjusted the picture accordingly to maximize game play. There are several gaming modes to choose from, so depending on your gaming preferences there is plenty to offer with this projector. 4K HDR movies look incredible, and so far I am very pleased with the overall performance of the Ben Q x500i on the home theater side of things. The speakers built into the projector are ok, but I definitely recommend leveraging a full audio system for overall experience. The 4LED technology has a great picture, and no bulb to change after 4000 hours of use. This projector is capable of 30,000 hours of use, which is amazing. I highly recommend this projector to anyone looking for a 4K short throw projector with quality and performance in mind. This is my first Ben Q purchase, and it has defiantly exceeded all of my expectations. Well done Ben Q!!!!!

The picture quality is amazing for a projector. However it takes a while to input HDMI select. Switch to my Xbox it's says searching for input. I have to manually go to settings and hit auto input select a couple times before I get a connection. The 3d quality is good but to layered. There needs to be away to deal the 3D back a little for the distance you are away from screen. It's like sitting in the front row of movie theater watching 3D . And it has little screws to ceiling mount projector to ceilings mounts . The projector weights like 15lbs . But overall I like the projector
