This filter is a must have for your shop vac. I used to have dust blow out the exhaust every time I would turn it on. Now I have clean air. I didn't notice a change in suction either.

The single-layer filter that comes with your shop vac can only filter particles larger than 10 micron. A large amount of the sawdust you make—and ALL the most dangerous for your lungs—is smaller. Connect your stock shop vac to your table saw or your sander and the thing is just SPRAYING FINE DUST into the air. Replace it with this—it's a big difference for a relatively small cost.Also do yourself a favor and buy bags for your shop vac. They're 5 bucks each and will save you the mess and hassle of frequently cleaning out the filter.Don't pinch pennies here. Do these two things and your vac is finally up to comparing to a certain german-engineered dust extractor costing several times more (I use both).

This filter is a nice tight fit on my Ridgid 6 gal shop vac model WD06700. The sticker on the top of my vacuum states replacement filter models are VF 4000, 5000, and 6000. I used the basic paper filter VF 4000 for 2 years and prolonged its life by blowing it out or brushing it when it got dirty but filters only last so long. This blue VF5000 filter is better for fine dust so thought it would be a healthier option. I mainly use the vac for sawdust, occasional drywall and general cleanup. Thought it would better for my lungs with this filter. It does cost more, but I had a gift card to use so it wasn't so pricey. One review said they had no suction with this filter but mine works just fine and I do not notice any reduction in suction. Another review said they did not receive a genuine Ridgid filter, but mine came in a genuine Ridgid box and works fine.

This is a filter for a Ridgid Vacuum made by the Ridgid company (OEM). It is fully washable and cleans easily with water. It is made of durable, 3-Layer filter material that captures superfine dust particles too small to be seen by the naked eye. This is a high efficiency filter with microban, so you can be sure that it is not spreading germs or the like. The filter has a pleated design which offers a greater surface area that resists clogging more than the other filters. This works best for sawdust, dusty basements attics and garages, car dirt, drywall dust, cement dust, cold ashes from fireplaces and bbq grills, fine powders like flour, talcum/baby powder, and chalk. This filter will fit all 6-20 gallon Ridgid wet/dry vac. I do woodworking and painting and use this filter in my Ridgid when ever I am doing anything that causes a dusty or spray paint mess. I am very happy with this filter.
