This thing is cool
Ive used this belt as a lift aid for me as well as I use it today 2 years later which is mostly used by my phys therapist as a gait belt when I ditch my walker. I dont know if Ive used it for help in and out of vehicles so cant speak to that but its sturdy and comfortable. Handles are well placed and secure. If you are looking for a utilitarian tool, this might be it. Im currently about 128lbs (down from like 138) and my waist is smaller but its adjustable by me no problem and easy for me to put on myself. Each therapist that has seen me wear it and used it themselves are impressed by it. My self-transfers and stability have greatly improved in 2 yrs and I attribute a lot of that to using this belt a lot early on and reducing its need over time.Ive never tried it but Im sure you could wear this around your chest, under your arms if you needed a lift that way after a fall and it would be comfy and secure during that time. This is way better than those standard gait belts that are made of a strip of cloth and have metal buckles that are hard to deal with without aid. Try it.

Great, sturdy gait belt
The belt is well made. It's nice and wide and supportive. We use it for our program for people with Parkinson’s Disease with balance issues. The handles are excellent-well placed and easy to grab when needed. The only issue we have is the clip can be difficult for them to close- But that being said, it's never come apart and seems to be strong.

Appears to be made strong
Have used the transfer belt to transfer my wife from the wheelchair to toilet and back. Have had it about a week. Appears to be made sturdily, handles are big enough for my hands to hold. Wife likes it better than a thin transfer tooth buckle belt we used previously. Cons are the snap buckle is difficult the snap and unsnap, it's large but appears to be heavy duty. Being a snap buckle, the right size needs to be made initially to fit the person instead of each time used as with a belt with a tooth buckle. The belt slides up when used to raise the person. but I don't believe that there is a belt that doesn't. A lot depends also on the clothes worn by the person being transferred. I'd recommend this belt.

Gait belt with padded handles
Mom had dementia and is having difficulty getting up and down from chairs/bed/toilet. I felt bad trying to assist her by lifting her up under her arms. I didn't want to hurt her or my back. This gait belt is a godsend! It gives me the leverage I need to assist her getting up. I love the padded handles. So much easier to assist her now.
