Entertaining game with some more unusual features.
Glory of the Roman Empire is an entertaining game. There's not much in the way of military strategy, although you will find yourself fighting some Barbarian tribes, but if you like building up cities and societies then this game is great. It's challenging but not too much so that you will find yourself becoming bored. The aims for each city you build give you a purpose rather than leading to mindless playing and you can check up on the wants, needs and thoughts of your citizens in order to build the most successful city you can. The graphics are also wonderful, even on an average PC.I also very much enjoyed the Latin aspect to the game; there aren't many games that allow you to play with Latin set as the language, which gives the game an optional eductional aspect! Good for any children who are starting to learn Latin at school.

Too many restrictions
Having played Children of the Nile, Zeus and Emperor I was looking forward to trying this out. Unfortunately, they reverted to the main fault of games like Pharoah and Caesar III of building distance restrictions. Certain buildings have to be with the sphere of influence of another otherwise they don't work. Couple this with limited building terrain to start with and it's a recipe for frustration. Yes, maps are huge, but areas level enough to build on are ridiculously small and scattered all over the place on some maps. I know Rome was built on 7 hills, but surely there must be a few places in the empire where flat land predominates? The trade options could be much more plentiful than they are and I didn't like the flower menu as it takes up too much screen space when in use. I only got about halfway through the game before I gave up and went back to Emperor. It's a shame because it looks good and the buildings themselves are much more interesting visually than those of Caesar IV.

Graphically superb and absorbing gameplay:-)!
Title says it all really - it really is a graphically beautiful game, and although it is not very complicated, it kept me completely absorbed for hours. The only thing I would warn about is the combat side of things - it does not really exist in this game. Although attacks do happen, and fighting does occur, there is hardly any conflict [other than from your disgruntled subjects;;-)!] and the combat is virtually out of your control and extremely unrealistic - but I personally like it like that:-)!

Great
Well what can i say Glory of the Roman Empire is a sweet game you can build how you want and anouther good thing about it is you can watch your city form the first house to the First Birth, and it is hard but it challangs you to keep at it, the main campain game is fun as you will swarp betreen diffent citys and what ever state you leave the town in is what it will be like once you go back to it later in the game so over all take it form me if you like the civcity and all thows types of game's this is a must get so go get it

Incompatible with Windows 7.
Be warned, this game is incompatible with Windows 7, and the developers sole response is that 'Windows 7 is buggy', they seem to have no interest in releasing any sort of patch to fix it.

Superb game
I've played all city-builders since Caesar II (yes it goes that far) and this one is currently my favorite. This game is just beautiful. While the construction space isn't much bigger than in Caesar IV or CivCity: Rome, the maps are huge and the nature is awesome with mountains, rivers and animals. It's a living world. The only negative aspect to me is the limited amount of buildings compared to the other games but the great features (the wheel menu, the construction of buildings or the low requirements)drive me back to it everytime. Superb.
