A Theory of Human Motivation

Super helpful for my thesis
I bought this book since Maslow's hierarchy of needs played into my grad school thesis on food insecurity. It was super useful, and I would definitely recommend for anyone who is interested in reading more of Maslow's work.

Heady Reading, but Foundational
This paper is a highly intellectual and theoretical writing on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. I had to re-read certain parts, highlight, and take time to make practical associations so that I felt I understood. However, it is precisely that challenging reading that I find stimulating. This is a foundational explanation of the theory of motivation. It explains how only upon the satisfying of the prepotent need does the importance of the next need emerge. It also offers some clarifications. For example, depending on the person’s health (psychological, physical, etc.), some needs considered basic are not in the order as presented. Because I am one who is interested in understanding motivation, I found this article helpful. If you are one who studies goal setting or is a goal setter yourself, it will give a different perspective of why you set the goals you do.Overall, this is probably not on everyone’s “must read” list, but it is a good primer on perhaps what is the most known theory of motivation - Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

A good book!
I like the fact that Kindle makes this book easy to read. When I got to words I didn't understand or couldnt pronounce, the dictionary feature helped a bunch. The book explains why humans have motivation and compares the different needs that we have that drives motivation. Furthermore, I was able to listen to the audio book version of this title via Youtube and follow along with the text on Kindle. I gave it 5 stars because it was a very interesting read and I will use this book as a reference when I write psychology papers in the future on this topic!!

nuances in ‘a’ definitive truth
Highly recommend to read.A number of nuances and paradoxes are presented in a theory that ‘quick fixers’ tend to make us believe as an absolute truth. Generally speaking it could be relatively simple. However, due to non-mutual-exclusive interconnection, nothing is that simple in human motivation.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Originally published in 1943, this is Maslow’s first publication on his psychological theory also known as Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. I find his theory as applicable today as it was back in the 1940s. Timeless!

Great "paper"
This was an excellent paper from about 1943 (put in book format) written by Maslow outlining his developmental theory. It provided clarity over what you read in text or from others about his developmental theory. As a College psychology professor, I really enjoyed the book and the clarity that I got from it. The References are a whose who in early Psychology. I strongly recommend this "paper".

Copy of what can be found online
I should have read the description better. This is a reprint of an article that you can get for free online. Great article I used it several times in college. Was looking for something more of a reference and deeper evaluation of his work. But it was still a good article

It is a must read
I was initially very disappointed as I was expecting a book not a 36 pages paper. I thought I could finish it in half an hour but it is a heavy book. I needed more time to digest each page. It helps you to see where you have unmet needs in the pyramid. It is well worth reading.

Good read..
A small book but invaluable as it gives an insight into it's title. If you like philosophy and psychology it's worth picking this up to read although it's use for research is limited.

Print difficult to read!
I found this difficult to read due to closeness of the printing and how it is laid out. Had a refund.

Dry. Disappointing
Dry. DisappointingIt’s a copy of the original paper, not especially accessible, and there is no discussion or interpretation of it.
