It is handy if you need it as you age.
This is very sturdy and easy to put on your toilet. Very easy to clean as it's hinged. Your own toilet seat sets on top of it. Very handy. Fits well.

Great product for use after lumbar spine surgery after a few modifications!
This design is a major improvement over the old single piece units used in my mother's long-term care facility! I read the reviews, suggestions, and complaints, and ordered this prior to undergoing lumbar spine fusion surgery March 8th and it is incredible! However, a few modifications will make it almost perfect. I have Kohler 1.6 gal flush elongated bowl toilets in my home. The inside lowest part of the bowl (it slopes at the front edge top to bottom) measures 11 5/8" L X 10 7/8" W (at the widest point of the bowl). The longest measurement front to back at the upper top of bowl is 13 7/8" 1. Toilet seats: Mine had an elongated Bemis which has molded-in-place attachment bolts. My wife's had an elongated Mayfair which has removable bolts so she swapped hers with mine. 2. Bolts: Apparently some earlier models had larger diameters bolts, mine had 1/4" bolts, wing nuts, some plastic and metal washers. If you received an an older larger-bolt model, you'll need to visit the local hardware store (ACE for example) and purchase the same hardware in 1/4" size. 3. Slipping, sliding between Carex and your seat and/or toilet: Some folks purchased rubber washers to place between their own seat top and the Carex; and on the underside of the toilet between the metal washers. I had some leftover thin rubber cabinet shelf liner from another project that my wife cut to fit the rear entire underside mounting section of the Carex and installed it between the toilet and Carex, then installed bolts, washers and wingnuts. This really reduced movement. 4. Urine running under the toilet-side Carex lip and onto the toilet front edge: One person taped a sandwich bag to the inside lower front edge of the Carex. My wife used a piece of Gorilla tape 2" wide and long enough to match the Carex curve inside lower front. 1/2" of the top long edge is attached to the Carex, the additional 1 1/2" hangs from the Carex. The Carex lip slopes away from the toilet rim so the tape angles away from the toilet rim and directs urine into the toilet. The tape IS NOT attached to the toilet, only the Carex! 5. Lowering and raising the Carex, my toilet seat and lid: Due to my spine surgery I am in a back brace and cannot bend over for 3 months. To help solve that problem and be more self-reliant I purchased a Pik Stik Pro P-321 32"reacher/grabber tool (Amazon). With it I can lift and lower my toilet lid and seat and both Carex sections without any help. (Note: The bottom section of the Carex will not stay in place vertically but if you're male you can just stand, straddle and aim through that section). I can also flush the toilet myself. This tool also allows me to pick up my shoes, socks, shirts, small objects on the floor, counter or shelf and get my sweat pants on and off and more!

Moves around
I’m not sure how to secure it to the toilet so that it doesn’t slide around. It’s not a lot of movement, but it can become misaligned with the toilet bowl. Otherwise, I really like that it can be lifted up to expose the bowl. The added height makes it easier to transfer to the toilet from my wheelchair, and easier for elderly family to use the throne.

Functional and looks great
This product exceeded my expectations, it looks good and it's very sturdy. I was very frustrated with the product that we had we had it for over a year after a surgery. This is a great alternative to the cheap seats you attach to the toilet. It no longer looks trashy and it's so easy to clean. Flips up as designed.

Exactly what I needed - big improvement over older types of elevated toilet seats
This replaces a larger older plastic raised toilet seat and boy is this an improvement. The old raised toilet seat had a screw in the front that I would scrape my leg on when getting out of the shower, and it was too high for me, and a nightmare to clean. Also there was no lid. I wish I had replaced that horrible one earlier with this one - my toilet is no longer a huge ugly eyesore but looks more like a normal toilet since you can use a normal toilet seat and lid on top of it. It was as easy to install as a toilet seat and once you secure the bolts, making sure they are very tightened, it does not move around. The height is perfect so I don't hurt my knees. The hinge design makes it easy to clean the toilet. This is excellent. Update: Still pleased with this, but it is not as strong as I had hoped. The top of this now has a dent & crack in it caused by one of the plastic seat bumpers on the normal toilet seat placed above it. It still works well and the dent isn't visible except when I clean the toilet, but I am betting I will have to replace this in a year or two.

PERFECT FOR A RV!!!
I needed a raised toilet seat in my RV. The toilet is right at the entrance to the bathroom so I didn’t really have much room to work with. I tried three others and had to send them back because they didn’t fit. This is perfect. It uses the toilet seat and lid of your original toilet. The raised seat is hinged making it easy to clean. Now I’m a happy camper!

Great riser but small pin hole allows to fill with water.
This is my second one. There is a small pin hole where the injector needle is removed during the manufacturing process. When I was cleaning my first one I did not notice this hole and the riser filled with water. I tried shaking it out, but it’s a very small hole. I thought about drilling out the hole a little larger, but thought the integrity of the riser could be compromised. I wound up having to buy larger metal washers to attach the riser, but other than that it’s a good product. When I’m through with this one, I will be sure not to put it in water to clean it.

I hurt my knees and the muscle in the top front of each thigh. Using the washroom with my regular height toilet seat was torture getting down and up again. Every small bit of progress I was making being confined to the couch was being lost every time I had to used the washroom. There's no way I could wait to buy a tall toilet and get it installed (or afford that 10 times higher price). Someone suggested this riser idea so I took a chance and ordered the one that seemed right for me. It arrived very quickly, it was a breeze to install (and I'm not that steady on my feet right now !). I'm not re-injuring myself every time I use the washroom anymore. Once my injury is healed I'll remove the riser again and tuck it away until I need it again. It's been a real help.

I have bought a few toilet risers . The ones that go on top of the seat are not nice to look at or sit on. The ones with handles coming out of the riser don’t work well because when you put too much pressure on those handles it loosens the riser. It is better o have wall grab bars. They are far safer. This riser looks nicer and stays tight and in place.

I had vvv bad experience with this product. The product is not secured at the hinge with any screw but has a small knob which just snap if one shifts on the side, Would not recommend to anyone specially old or one with disabilities.
