Great bit of kit but expensive subscription service
Very handy piece of kit, it helps you stick to speed limits, when driving in areas unfamiliar it gives you plenty of warning about different kind of speed traps, the only thing I would say negative is that its quite an expensive purchase and after the few days of Free Trial you then either have to outlay a considerable amount for a subscription or commit to a 12 month £14.99 subscription, really for the price you pay for it you should at least get a 3 month subscription included, design wise/functionality it would be good if it powered itself down when ignition is turned off like the satnav does, very often I have come back to my van and the battery in it has died and it takes about 5 mins to power back up then. All that said I would recommend it, I read some reviews and they wasnt very good so I was reluctant to buy it but I have had no reason to complain

Great compact unit that has a battery issue
Excellent product, easy to use and easy to setup. I had a slight issue with my subscription not showing but a quick call to support had this sorted within 5 minutes and my subscription was extended for my inconvenience. The screen is easy to read even in bright sunlight and I have turned down the volume on the alerts as they too are very loud. Only real downside is currently it has quite a few miss alerts for surrounding roads as it isn’t snapping to the road you are on, but I have been told that a fix for that is on its way. ---- Edit after using for a few months well after 3 units in as many months I sent it back for a full refund, Road Angel Support were good at replacing the unit but they had the device more than me. There seems to be an issue with the battery on the device. RA would only return half the subscription even though it never really worked for more than a couple of weeks at a time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Detector! But Locked Behind a Costly Subscription
The Road Angel Pure One works very well - accurate alerts, clear display, and solid build. As a speed camera detector, it’s genuinely impressive. But the subscription model really lets it down. Without a paid plan, it’s basically useless! No updates, no live data, and limited functionality. What’s worse, the subscription costs keep creeping up, which feels unfair after the initial investment. I spoke with the same lady there on various occasions and quite frankly she didn't care about my concerns "You either want it or you don't". It must be a small operation for me to keep getting the same unhappy lady! Either that or I'm just unlucky. If you’re happy to put up with not great aftercare and pay ongoing fees, it’s a great bit of kit. But be aware: it’s not a one-time purchase.

Definitely gives peace of mind and ensures I drive more carefully...
This is a really good product with comprehensive alerts, and generally reliable, but it isn't cheap and I do have a couple of issues with it which I would like to see improved. 1/ It doesn't power itself down when you turn off the ignition, which means that if you or another driver forget to manually power it down, then when you come back to your car the battery will be completely drained and it will take maybe 10 minutes of drive time to charge the battery back up enough for the unit to re-start. 2/ It interferes with my radio and makes the radio unusable. It is clearly not adequately supressed. 3/ Every now and then the speed indicator goes haywire and gives completely false oscilating readings above and below true speed. If the unit is turned off and back on it will usually then be fine, but this shouldn't be necessary, and I've never experienced this with my satnav. So I'm pleased that I bought it, but I would like these issues resolved please, Road Angel.

Complicated setup, but works great once running
Setup was abit tedious and i had to email customer support to get the subscription activated on the unit (you need to purchase a subscription to use this). Customer support was very quick and had activated it within the hour of me emailing in. So far the unit has always picked up stationary cameras, frequently prompts me about camera van hot spots. One of the most useful features i find on a daily basis, is that it will track your average speed through an average speed camera section. I know live near an average speed camera section and the road angle had this on the unit within a day or two of it going live! great unit, if you drive alot of work then well worth while to remind you of your speed.

Pointless and expensive
So the “catch” with this device is you have to tie into a long term expensive agreement to get any use out of the device. £150 only gets you a telemetrixs device. Basically any free satnav app or even your cars own speedo give you the same information. So pretty pointless buying the device. For £100 a year the device should only cost £50 for the hardware then the subscription makes sense. The fact that you don’t even get the use of the laser detector as part of the free subscription is mind boggling!!! Or even access to the basic data base of fixed cameras that dozens of free apps or cheaper devices can provide you. The unit is nice and light and it’s pretty easy to install but it’s build quality is low and unless your dash is perfectly smooth and flat you will end up having to buy the windshield holder. Overall I’m pretty disappointed in how road angle presented a potentially great product in such a poor way. Well at least I get to save money instead of buying into something that’s a rip off!

FRUSTRATED! Shockingly bad at doing what it's supposed to do - reliably detect Speed (safety) Cameras!
Oh my goodness, I so needed this to be good - BUT IT JUST ISN'T. I have been a Road Angel customer for many years and in turn I have owned the Road Angel Classic, the New Road Angel, the Vantage, the Professional Connected, the GEM+ and now the PURE. There is little doubt that the PURE [potentially] has the widest range of cameras detection, encompassing the "fixed" Gatso/Truvelo-type cameras AND the Laser/Radar cameras in vans, on motorway bridges and hand-held devices and although other speed detectors do this, none of them also shows the speed of the road as reference against your current speed also on display. So it should do it all - but it just doesn't! Mine has missed Red Light Cameras, DOES NOT detect the latest HADECs cameras on stretches of smart motorway, it DOES NOT charge on the new wireless dashboard mount [apparently a well known issues with the wire supplied - which they are STILL shipping out units with despite knowing they don't work] and now worst of all - the voice alerts have stopped working, so you have to constantly watch the screen to get camera alerts! My PURE also overheats when left in the car and just switches off - so another of its main selling points "Does Not Overheat" is just not true in my experience. With all these issues, my PURE has proved useless and has been returned! I have asked for a replacement in case I was supplied with a bad example (the packaging was opened when it was delivered, so maybe I was sent one that had previously been returned with the same faults I found?) and so I am happy to try it for another few weeks, as I so need what the PURE is supposed to offer, but if the replacement proves as useless as the first unit then I will have to give up with the PURE and go for a Cheetah or similar! For me, the worst failing of the PURE so far is its inability to detect the HADECs "Stealth Cameras", as these are replacing the overhead gantry cameras on many "smart motorways" and without the PURE warning of these it is not fit for the purpose! As a longstanding Road Angel owner/user, I also want to say that the current subscription charges for the camera location updates is ludicrous at £100 every year - for my original Road Angel Classic I purchased "Updates For Life" at a one-off cost of £100 - only to subsequently find that life does not mean life, as shortly afterwards Road Angel stopped supporting the Classic and so that £100 payment was for nothing! Fast forward 15 years and Road Angel was recently purchased by a new company, who say that during the transition to the new company the database supporting all the models from the Classic to the Gem was "corrupted during the change"? What this means in reality is that all my previous Road Angels, including the wonderful VANTAGE which has a large screen and does everything the new PURE does, are essentially useless and no longer supported due to the "corrupted database during the transition to the new company" provided a good excuse to dump support for all models previous to the Gem and the PURE. At very best this is NOT demonstrating good customer support and at worst, just like rendering my £100 "Lifetime Support" for my original Classic worthless, it smacks of sharp practice to simply force customers of legacy models to buy the new PURE. In summary, in its current state and at £250 plus £100 for the required updates, the PURE is over-priced and just NOT reliable enough to recommend until they find solutions to all these issues!

Love the screen. Audio alerts great. Big improvement over Gem+ Deluxe
I love the screen. My main reason for moving to this was that the Gem+ screen wasn't clear in the slightest sunlight or if wearing sun glasses. The audible alerts on the Gem+ were also quite ear piercing and distracting. The pure is great. Can see the screen in all lighting conditions. Graphics are clear and much larger. Loving the Audio alerts. They are still loud and clear but more discreet like a mobile phone text alert. So I don't have to keep leaning forward and trying to silence it everytime it goes off and winds all passengers up. If you have ever had a road angel product before then you will know they are decent. I've used them for over 10 years and this one is by far the best. Loving the charger mount, no more fiddling with cables. I've written about half a dozen product reviews in my life, as usually cant be bothered, but thought this warrants a 5*, so anyone looking for a GPS speed indication with black-spot alerts, you cant got wrong with this, I'd recommend taking the plunge.
