pleasantly surprised
I was looking for a smaller drafting board, but not trying to spend a lot of money. This is exactly what I needed! I have only had it for a day, but first impression I am very happy about my purchase. Very easy to use, and great size. Not to mention the price, cant beat it. Not sure if this would be great for a serious drafting person, but works great for what I need it for. Definitely would recommend.

Awesome product
Love this drafting board. I can fit 11x17 sheet of vellum and do some drafting work easily. The parallel bar is a little janky. Not horrible just a weird function. The board has slats to hold the edges of your paper so you don’t really need to tape the corners. But can tape if you want for extra support. The board is hard plastic but is a little flimsy if you apply arm pressure on it but it’s overall gods enough to work on. Also come with extra tools.

This is metric, not imperial
Good board, sturdy yet light. Fits in your lap. But I wasnt paying attention when I ordered and got the metric version.

It's good for what it is
I used to draft manually with the big drafting machine on a large industrial sized desk. All that has changed with the advent of CAD. But sometimes I miss the craft of drafting. I am delighted this drafting board is available. It's wonderful to have the ability to share what I love with the next generation by simply pulling out this small unassuming drafting board. I didn't expect it to be super sturdy, or even accurate, but it's not too bad! It has definitely exceeded my expectations for what it is!

good idea, only "good enough" quality.
I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the build for this item. I should say up front that I intend on keeping this thing, since it is still useful, just less than I anticipated it would be. It just feels like an entry level device, that is the cheapest and most basic it can be, with other, better alternatives out there. First, the tolerances on the slots and accessories is VERY loose. The main ruler has a grove in the board that a tongue on the ruler piece slots into. Since they opted to go with the most basic of plastics in the base, they've had to leave the groove and tongue looser than they should be, and this creates a pretty big margin of slop in the square of the ruler. Across the entire page length of the board on mine, this can result in it being 3-4 mm off square at the end of the ruler. So you have to manually make sure its square. I feel like this kind of defeats the purpose of having this product somewhat, because you can get a simple T-square from your local hardware store and be able to set your ruler much faster. They could have used a metal insert in the grove and gotten those tolerances much tighter. This leads me to the next issue I have with it. The locking mechanism for the ruler is a bit of a joke. The bigger one on the "left" of the board for the main ruler works fine, but the one on the right side, which is essential to maintaining square because of the first issue above, barely engages at all. All it really does is make it just slightly harder to bump out of place with an errant palm. That being said, the design of the locking mechanism also leaves a lot to be desired, since an errant bump can also unlock it as well if you bump in the wrong spot. The accessories for the ruler, like the angle gauge don't have any kind of locking mechanism to the main ruler. They just have a groove in their base that a raised lip on the ruler slots into. Again, this isn't very tight in the tolerances, so once again, square isn't as easy as it could be, and the gadget itself can slip and slide all over the place since there is no locking mechanism to hold it in place. The legs are clearly an afterthought. They are just chunks of plastic, that are designed (poorly) to slip into notches in the board edge. THERE IS NO RETENTION MECHANISM HERE. This is by far the weakest part of this boards design. They just slip on and are held by wishful thinking and optimism. The board frequently falls off these legs mid pencil stroke, and you only really have two positions on the legs, so the adjustment is a bit limited. I'm not sure why the company decided to go this route with the legs, instead of just adding some basic flip down legs or something, but it is a bit disappointing. So now, the good. The board is quite stiff and sturdy. I tend to be pretty heavy handed on my drawing surfaces and I've not detected any sign of warping or bending while I use it. The paper retention is very nice. My paper does not budge once in place. It is very good for a portable item. It is a little too bulky to go in most backpacks, but it'd fit in a suitcase just fine for if you need something to take with you. It would also work really well as a in car drawing surface for the kids on a long trip in the car. Once you figure out its limitations and are on the watch for its issues with slop in the square, you can use this thing fairly effectively. Just be aware of the limitations it has.

I appreciate the attempt, but for drafting, it was garbage.
Nothing moved or slid without binding. The compass angle compass markings or the degree notches were off by half a degree, so if you can remember this offset for every line you draw, it might work. The biggest issue was that the sliding horizon rule was crooked, and regardless if you oriented graphing paper on the crooked horizon, your verticals will always be off with the adjustable compass, or the 45/90 triangle because it too was not straight. I was going to use this as a portable field solution for on-site revisions on stamped drawings, but it would risk my stamp if the corrections were not accurate or certifiable. Returned and still looking.

Broke within two days
I have purchased two other versions of this at an art store, both of which did not hold up well at all. This model looked to be sturdier, and I took a chance that it would work out better. The "newly designed" rollers? One broke off within two days. The locking mechanisms work approximately 50% of the time, and even then not well. The pros of this are that the two attachments to increase your ability to accurately draw a multitude of angles work well, including the ability to have a vertical straight edge. They connect via a ridge and slide well along the base bar. Unfortunately, given the fact that one of the rollers (which when working was actually very helpful) broke off within two days just soured my opinion of this. I did choose to keep it, but I would not purchase it again.

Works well
Great little drawing board - would not recommend the adjustable angle tool as it is for sure a little off. Rest of it works great. Oh and be sure to get a pencell sharpener!
