Birmingham. 4th February 2017. The End. After nearly fifty years it was the final show of Black Sabbath's Farewell Tour back where it all began in their home city of Birmingham, the industrial heart of England. There could be no more appropriate place for the Godfathers of Heavy Metal to take their last bow. Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne delivered a set that focused on Black Sabbath's classic seventies albums, the albums that defined a genre and inspired future generations. It was an extraordinary, emotional night for both the band and the fans and one that will never be forgotten. Bonus Features include the Angelic Studio Sessions - full performance footage of brand new recordings of five classic early Black Sabbath tracks: (1) The Wizard (2) Wicked World (3) Sweet Leaf (4) Tomorrow's Dream (5) Changes.

Pretty Awesome!
I wasn't very optimistic about this DVD. I have their last concert (Gathered in their masses) and was very disappointed with it. But I took a chance anyways. Glad I did. The song selection is phenomenal, the band sounds great, and Ozzy isn't as terrible as on the last DVD. He actually surprises me on a few tracks that I didn't think he could still have the range for, that he did when it was originally recorded. The added 5 song studio tracks are awesome. All in all, I am glad I purchased this DVD and I am also sorry to see Black Sabbath retire. My favorite band of all time!Wicked World.... After forever.... Under the sun..... Hand of doom.... Rat Salad.... The Wizard.... ETC...... Sabbath Rules!

Mix was horrible. Missed B. Ward in a big way! Did I mention the crappy mix?
Sound mix was pretty bad. Geezer's bass was way too high in the mix drowning out Iomni's guitar at sometimes very important moments. I'm a musician that knows how to mix so it was not just a matter of eq settings, etc. Sorely missed B. Ward's drums. This guy just overplayed his double kick anytime there was a complicated drum sequence and he was turned up too high in the mix as well. Ozzy's box was good in the mix. The band overall could have been much tighter. Not going to comment on the performance vs. 45 or so years ago when they were at their prime. Did not dig the slow mo catches of 40-50 year olds head banging (or something like that) in the audience. Damn that mix though... too bad they could not pull off a good mix especially on an occasion such as this! Or did I get I repackaged crappy import. Returning this DVD immediately.

Black Sabbath Rules
Sound quality is exceptional. Bass and drum soundtrack is best I’ve heard on Blu-Ray. The wife told me the house was shaking from the sub.The set list is amazing. Wish I was there but this is almost as good..... ALMOST!

Haven't heard anyone else here mention...
...the biggest difference between this and the previous video concert (Gathered in their Masses) is the vast Improvement in the recorded sound of Geezer's bass. To me, it's like night and day compared to that disc. I also must agree with many others' complaint re: the quick editing. After all these years, I still can't understand why it's still so prevalent in concert videos, and why the acts are okay with it.

Love these guys! Throwback concert!
This concert is awesome! The band can still rock like no other, and Ozzy is still crazy as ever (sober too)! Great behind the scenes conversation gives more insight to how these guys got back together and why. Drummer fill in was amazing too (original drummer declined the invitation for undisclosed reasons).

Awesome concert and bonus material!
This would be 5 stars if Bill Ward was on drums. Killer setlist plus the bonus Angelic Sessions is awesome! With that being said, this drummer is excellent and plays Ward's stuff pretty spot on. I just don't know how the dude contains himself while playing the final tour and show with 3 of the biggest legends in Heavy Metal history. Must have been pretty unreal for him considering he's probably half their age and no doubt grew up listenting to and playing all these songs.

INCREDIBLE!
This concert aired on Direct TV about 3 weeks ago. I was flipping through the channels and happened to land on it. I was blown away...i immediately ordered the bluray....i didn't even know it existed...come to find out it was THREE YEARS OLD! D'oh!....Geez, i wonder what other HD classic concerts there are out there that i don't know about??????...This concert and AC/DC - Live At Donnington are the best concerts i've ever seen on bluray so far....Black Sabbath never sounded better...they still sound every bit as good as they did in the early 70s with the exception that Ozzy can't hit the high notes anymore...otherwise its like still living in the 70s....He actually does a better job in the angelic sessions portion of the disc.....he almost sounded like the ozzy of the 70s there....Sweet Leaf and Tomorrows Dream were a real treat....if you grew up back in those days like i did you really should get this if you don't already have it...it will bring back so many acid memories!......"Generals gathered in their massezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!...just like witches as black massezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!".....Sabbath RULES!

Uncut performances without interviews
Loved the definition and performance. It reminded me of the concert I saw on this very tour, Although ozzy seemed to sing better at the utah amphitheatre as I recall.

Dodgy Editing? - I Still Like It, Though.
After reading an excellent review from a fellow Brummie, I decided to ignore the reviews about the editing, & purchase the Blu-ray, along with the cd version. Yes, the rapid switching is a tad more than normal, but it did not spoil my enjoyment in any way. They were playing their last ever concerts in their home city, so the atmosphere was always going to be electric. Dick Carruthers was capturing those moments, by including regular shots of all band members, & especially the audience. Could they have prolonged the shots a tad longer? - yes, but I still like it. I have since watched David Gilmore at Pompeii & Jeff Lynne at Wembley (both excellent), & the editing is a little easier on the senses. I liked the fact that they focused on the earlier albums, as this was definitely their fertile period. I thought the sound seemed to dip sometimes, as I have not yet played the cd's, I don't know if it's from the concert or elsewhere. Also, the bonus inclusion of The Angelic Sessions was very nice. So in conclusion, if you are an avid Sabbath fan, you will want this in your collection for posterity, & ignore the rights & wrongs of alleged 'dodgy' editing.

out of this world.
This Band and Iron maiden are my favourite bands. I was fortunate enough to see Sabbath on this tour, with my fiancee and other times. The magic of Sabbath is they always sound better live than on record or video. This DVD Is fantastic but breaks my heart to say this, it ain't the same as seeing them live. but it's a fantastic document of this unique band . Ozzys drummer is fantastic but he ain't Bill Ward. Bill has a percussive style that contributes greatly to the heaviness of Sabs music. Tony and Gezzer are great but what impresses me most is Ozzys voice. He sounds fantastic!!!! the tracks "Iron man, " "After Forever" & "Hand of Doom" were a high point on this DVD & tour but " black Sabbath " doesn't quite gel as well as it does on the 1st album. but "behind the wall of sleep" &" war pigs " more than makes up for that. This DVD is definatley a must for Sabbath heads like me but to hear the chemistry of Ozzy, Bill,Gezzer & Tony I would recommend the "Reunion" & "Live at last" cds!!!However a fantastic visual documentation of this classic , unique, out of this world band.

Black Sabbath at their best 🤘

Blach Sabbath-The End
If you lived through the start of Heavy metal Music and like Metal Music and still like the Music or you just like the Music. You will know Black Sabbath were in the front line in starting the sound..Without them there may be no big band that make the heavy Metal sound to day.So this a must for fans of the sound and a must, must the for the Fans of Black Sabbath.

The band were inspired for this one !
I'm not an excitable person by nature , but my own admission have BLACK SABBATH ever done a better gig ? Okay the absolute energy of early youth is not there , but the un-deniable charisma probably is ! The bands members have on paper aged ,but it doesn't necessarily show in the performance here in their own town (and mine) of Birmingham ! The young drummer looks cool ,but I bet he don't feel it , in this cauldron of hyperactivity ! The high definition picture quality adds to this , their last ever gig ?
