I picked this up because I love a proper chippy-style vinegar but needed a gluten-free option. Let’s be honest, chip shop vinegar has that distinct sharpness and depth that supermarket malt vinegar just doesn’t quite replicate, so I wasn’t sure if this would deliver the same nostalgic flavour. But it actually does a fantastic job – you get that rich, tangy kick that soaks into your chips just right, giving them that authentic takeaway taste. The fact that it’s non-brewed makes no difference to the flavour, and I’d challenge anyone to tell the difference in a blind taste test. It’s got the same slightly acidic punch, without being overpowering, and works great not just on chips but also over battered fish, mushy peas, or even as a salad dressing when mixed with a bit of oil. The 315ml bottles are a good size – not too big that they take up loads of space, but enough to last a fair while. The cap seals well, so no accidental spills in the cupboard. The two-pack is a bonus because I can keep one in the kitchen and the other in the cupboard as a backup (or give it to a fellow chip fanatic). For anyone who has to avoid gluten but doesn’t want to miss out on the proper chippy experience, this is spot on. Definitely a solid alternative to traditional malt vinegar, and you don’t have to worry about any hidden ingredients. Great value too, considering how long it lasts.

Love this "vinegar". Bought originally because it's gluten free. I always used to wonder why when I added more vinegar at home to my chippy chips it was never the same.....now I know! This definitely has the genuine chip shop taste. It is expensive but after years of not being able to have vinegar it was worth it to me.
