True Reformers: Saints of the Catholic Reformation

Inspirational and Aspirational Catholic Book
With so much tragedy and scandal in today's Church, it's easy to forget that the second theological virtue is hope. This book, brilliantly researched, succinctly written, virtuously inspiring, has been one of the most positive Catholic books that I've read. The Church in the 1500s-1600s was as lost and corrupt as today's Church, but within that grime emerged a dozen incredible saints, with such wildly diverse charisms, from mysticism, to administration, to spiritual direction, to missionary work...that only God could have forged their spirits. It's awesomely uplifting to see that a dozen spiritual warriors can reform and redirect a wayward generation, and I pray that in monasteries and cathedrals today there are a dozen determined souls with such zeal. Thank you for a marvelous book this Lent. Truly great!
