Fits PlayStation 5 ALMOST Perfectly…
WARNING - IF USING WITH PS5 (edit/update):Be sure the underside plate is not pushed too far forward or it could make contact with the pins on the m.2 slot at the PS5’s motherboard, creating a potential short. I actually Dremeled about 3mm off the bottom plate to make sure this doesn’t happen. Its too bad about the bottom plate because otherwise it fits PS5 like it’s made for it… I wanted a Samsung drive because in my experience Samsung storage controllers are just the best there are…. Unfortunately Samsung doesn’t make the 980 Pro (PCIe 4.0) with a factory installed heatsink and Sony advises one should be installed in the PS5 / M.2 documentation. The installation of the actual heatsink was a bit sketchy because of the clips every one is mentioning but just go slow and you’ll be fine. I’m glad it grips the drive so well because that equals better contact between the thermal pads and the chips on the drive. EK knows what they’re doing. Be sure to remove drive labels/stickers to ensure proper contact between the chips and the thermal pads. Also make sure all working surfaces are clean and polished. To install make sure the hooked part of the clamp is completely seated in the groove of the underside at either side of the heatsink and then slowly but firmly press along the length of the clamp starting at the seated end until you get to the other side and the clip should click into place. Be warned it will take a little work to get it to snap into the opposing grove. It might be helpful to have an extra set of .5mm of thermal pads on hand in case the 1mm is too thick for your M.2 drive. Good contact is all that matters, it doesn’t need to be sandwiched so tight it cracks the PCB.Overall I’m impressed with the build quality and the materials used! Looks great in my PS5 even if no one will ever see it, I know it’s there :P

Cools Quite Well & Evens Out Dual NVMe Temp Spreads
The ASRock Z390 Extreme 4 motherboard comes with but one heatsink for the "lower" MVMe drive. My mid-tower case has two 120mm fans up front and one in the back, all run at about 900 RPM.Initially, the 500 GB 970 EVO PLUS was installed as-is in the "upper" location as a data drive. The lower 500 GB 970 EVO PLUS, where the OS is, was running about 7-10°C cooler than the upper drive. With the heatsink, the difference evened out somewhat with the upper dive now running only 2-4°C warmer.I attribute the warmer running of the upper drive to tho lower drive being in the path of greater, smoother air flow. And that massive heatsink. The advantage provided by the EKWB heatsink is I don't need to bias the fan speeds to favor the upper drive.Being for data, during video processing and zipping up large files, it will run 10-12°C warmer and quickly cool down upon task completion.Consequently, during Windows 10 updates, it's the OS drive that runs hotter. At any given time, the drives run between 29°C at idle and 45° when busy, 21°C ambient. The EKWB EK-M.2 heatsink, without doubt, quite effectively lowers the operating temperature during normal workstation jobs and while idling. As well, it has proven itself a winner during high level stress tests as reviewed here and in reports posted up in gaming and tech forums and web sites. I see no need for me to whack my nice new drives for the sake of this review.Since I don't game, the i9-9900K UHD 630 graphics being all I need, I can't comment on its effectiveness in that arena. That said, I knocked a star off my rating because of the ridiculous instructions and the absolutely horrendous clips.

Overall good, plating needs work imo.
So in all honesty, I wanted the black version of this but it wasn't available when I needed it, so here we are.For what it is, it seems well machined, fits together well with the retention clips. It is a bit fiddly though getting it lined up properly. I used it on a Samsung 960 Pro M.2. I know some reviewers say to use the .5 over the controller chip, but don't do it. I tried that first and the chip didn't make any contact with the head spreader. No contact = Worthless. Install the 1mm and 0.5mm tape as instructed, and use some muscle with the clips.Honestly, they weren't hard to get clipped on. I had more issue getting and keeping everything centered and lined up while putting the clips on.Pay attention to the cutouts for the motherboard screw, use the gold contact area on the m.2 as a guide for placement. Now, my issue.. The plating on this could be a lot better, it's almost like a cheaper chrome finish than anything imo. A real nickle finish I'd be fine with, but I think maybe they need a word with their plating people.

Excellent Heatsink
WD Blue M.2 2TBASUS X99M WSSLI 980 Ti ClassifiedBecause of this setup, I have always been pardoned about the M.2 drive heating up. For those who no not familiar, the M.2 slot is right under the top graphics card. Heat from the graphics card blows directly onto the drive. I was constantly checking on the drive's temp. Before with no heatsink, 53 to 55C under light duty tasks. And for pretty much anything greater than light duty tasks, it would quickly hit 68C and above. Thermal throttling features on this drive kick in at 74C. Installation of the heatsink was a breeze for me but I've been doing this for more years than I'm willing to reveal. I'll just say my first build ever was when 133Mhz CPU was "super fast" and leave it at that. I did not encounter any clearance issues. With the heatsink installed, drive temperature now hangs out around 51 to 55C under light to medium duty tasks. So far, I have not seen it go higher than 66C under heavy loads or while gaming. It now takes much longer for drive temperature to rise and after returning to idle, temperature drops back down much much more quickly. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the results considering the setup.

Dissipatore passivo per SSD M2
Qualità EK, molto bello da vedere, il montaggio potrebbe essere più semplice, per il resto, raccomandato.
