Sturdy and biodegradable
I had seedlings growing in these pots for a couple of months and they held up well, and the plants grew nicely to a point. The pots allowed roots to start growing through, but they didn’t fall apart. My only wish is that they came in bigger sizes so I could have transferred the plants to allow them to continue growing before putting them in the ground where they’re more at risk of being eaten by slugs and snails. I’ve still got lots of pots leftover for my next batch so very good value for money.

A good idea but needs a little help
Great to use when starting to grow seedlings, but awkward to handle if you need to move them multiple times, so I would suggest that once you have filled them with compost and a seed, then watered, you should put them in a tray which can hold however many you need and do not move them. This is because, over time, after watering, they become very fragile and will break apart if handled. So I would suggest letting the 'pot' dry out enough for you to be able to handle without it falling appart. Also, when it's time to plant them, I would suggest slicing with a knife to create openings for the roots to grow through or wetting it enough to be able to make little rips in the pot for the roots to grow through as otherwise the roots will outgrow the pot and will just become a pot full of roots before it has rotted away enough as it does take quite a while for the pot to degrade.

Delighted to not be using plastic
Bought for three reasons: - trying to move away from plastic pots - to save time with repotting - so as don't disturb the roots of plants. This seems to tick all three boxes and was excellently priced against competitors. The pots arrive snugly inside each other and it is a bit of a skill to unlock them all - but with patience and finally working out that if I hold the bottom not the middle of the outside pot the inside one will come out easily. So far so good! I just wish I could find some bigger versions in larger quantities.

Biodegradable - but maybe a bit too much
I've been using these as planters to eventually go straight into the ground. They a good size, the only thing is is they keep going mouldy on the outside. I naturally have several rows together, in a light and warm room, that often has a draft AND a dehumidifier nearby to stop surface mould but the pots keep growing white fur like mould all round the outside. I have had to gently sponge this off with some anti-bacterial a couple of times. I'm not sure whether this is just a downside of them being biodegradable or I am just doing it wrong - but be aware: they're not so good at keeping water IN, which is a bummer if you're growing seedlings for a few weeks before planting them outside.

Makes things easier
I was rather sceptical about these small biodegradable pots when I first received them (the packing was perfectly fine) but I wondered how biodegradable they could be. Well I've used them to start sunflower seedlings while preparing my garden to plant the sunflowers in the ground. Within three weeks exposed to the elements the pots still held up strong but I did notice the sunflower seed roots growing through the pot sides and bottom. Which is what you want for a biodegradable plant pot I suppose? I wouldn't recommend keeping plants in them long term because they will degrade, when soaking wet they come apart easy (I tested it out when I first got them) but they are not as fragile or so quickly to degrade as some people have suggested. If you are using them to make transplanting seedlings into larger pots or the ground then I absolutely recommend these.

Reduce root disturbance when potting out into the garden or into bigger pots
The only problem is that occasionally the pots stick together in the stacks despite being kept dry and unsquashed. Result is a few split pots. They work well, allowing the roots to grow into then through the fibre when ready to transplant. Main part of rootball is I disturbed. I tend to place fibre pots inside ordinary pots to reduce evaporation in my greenhouse & prevent them splitting as they age. These just slide apart when needed. All much easier

Bonjour. Merci.
