These are pretty heavy and thick. Should protect items very well. They came up in a search for sound dampening which is what I was looking for. I am using them as a barrier between the main part of the office and where I have 3D printers. They do surprisingly well to block some of the sound. After trying multiple options I did not have high hopes. They aren't soundproof by any means but their thickness helps a lot. In the right configuration and area they can help with blocking some noise. True soundproofing options were very expensive compared to a couple of these and they do well enough for my use. They are built made very well and should last a long time.

This is basically a moving blanket -We are using it around a drum set in a church, so we didn't want a typical ordinary moving blanket because they often have unmatched colors, poor stiching and such.This one was perfect: all black, extra handles (loops) sewn in just the right places. We had it up and functioning in a very short time, and it does damp down the sound quite well!!

I use a studio mic for live streaming at my desk which is right in front of a bare plaster wall. This was causing audible sound reflections in my room, so I bought this to reduce the reflections off of that wall. It works out very well. *** THIS IS NOT A SOUNDPROOFING BLANKET *** Soundproofing requires much more elaborate measures. The quality of construction is just fine for me. There are a couple loose threads/thread ends, but not concerned about that. It's hung on the wall using a series of coat hooks across the top edge. The weight of this blanket is substantial. Much heavier than I was expecting. Great value for the price.*** RECOMMEND ***

Alternative use. This blanket dramatically reduced the wind noise on my soft top Ford Bronco.

Didn’t make any difference in sound dampening in my studio. I also bought gap blockers for under the door of my double door entry , have solid doors, and this blanket was hung with a curtain rod to keep it close to the wall. I can still hear everything going on outside the door and people can hear me playing music. I put a white noise machine outside the door to try and help but it’s the only thing making an impact. What an utter disappointment but not returning because it would be a pain in the rear end to have to do so. Bummer! I can’t believe I paid so much for a cheap moving blanket disguised as a product for studios.

I was trying to replace another sound blanket that went up in price. The dimensions and general appearance were the same but this one is almost 1/3x lighter which is really important for a sound blanket. This really is just a moving blanket (as the label that comes with it clearly states) and for what it really is, it’s expensive. Definitely won’t be buying more of this blanket.
