Viking inspired camping axe
I bought the Frostbreaker model for a camping trip to Yosemite. The handle is dark finish, very dense wood, with a curve that makes it comfortable and balanced to hold. The axe itself is rustic looking tarnished / dinged up steel, very tough. Size is perfect for splitting non-hardwood, and performs exceptionally well on larger pieces of starter logs. All the friends wanted to hold it and chop wood with it.It doesn’t ship very sharp, but a sharpening puck (like a stone but better) is included with it. After a few sessions I was able to bring it to a razor edge. If you’ve never used a puck before, I recommend a quick YouTube video. It’s easy, just angle the blade against the surface and make concentric circles. This little axe is bad a$$, and considering the price, I give it a 10/10.

I love it
I bought this to use, I am trying to cut and clear a few stumps. I like the look and feel of this hatchet. It came out of the box sharp, I used it one day and afterwards I decided to put a stone on it and sharpen it up. I got it pretty sharp. I was happy with the workmanship, and the value . The handle is hickory, I am very pleased with it. If I lost it, I would buy another one. My friends I’ve shown it to were also impressed.

Not too bad for the price
The bit itself seems pretty decent, it seems to hold an edge just fine. I personally had an issue with the handle fit being a bit sloppy. The handle was chipped near the bit and the wedge was split. Upon inspection there was a knot in the wedge and it caused a split so that half of it popped out leaving the bit loose. It did come with an extra handle but it's a shame I'll have to use it right out of the box. The leather sheath is actually real leather, not some thin cheap thing. That was actually pretty impressive.

Pretty cool for the price I guess.
So this looks hella rustic, which I kinda like although as you see there's some pretty serious quality control problems, the shaft is cracked where they installed the axe head, the steel is a good bit uneven, looks like the handle didn't fit right with gaps in the front and they just packed some wood in the gaps in the back. Sheath fits but if you accidentally bump it forward you could definitely have a bad day out in the woods. For the price it's still kinda neat. Probably going to have to replace the handle but reading reviews I knew unless I got lucky was going to be an issue but pulled the trigger anyway. Probably will have to modify the sheath as well. All in all it's a cheap albeit pretty cool hand axe from China and I wasn't exactly expecting perfection but would have like to see at least SOME level of quality control but I sorta expected it was going to be a project. If the handle, the mounting and the blade geometry weren't so jacked up I'd give it 5 stars but that's just on opening it however it is as advertised, a inexpensive cool looking axe if you want a show piece or something to work on on your down time. Ultimately I feel like it's a semi good buy just for the axe head alone. Buyer be ware.

I now have an ax to grind...
I just received the hatchet today, it is everything that Reviewers said it was.Since I know nothing of metallurgy, I can only go with what I see and feel, and my impressions. At first sight it was good, and really, I could stop there. :)The handle is very good, it's the proper length (for me anyway) and it just feels good in the hand. The blade 'seems to be' fine, it was sharp, not as sharp as some have said, and not as dull as others have said. I used the stone that was provided and I could swear I dulled it more. I'll be honest and say that I couldn't tell which side was which, so that says a lot about how much I know. It's still sharp though, I can't think of one use that I would need it to be razor-sharp, but then again, I bought this because I 'just wanted it', no other reason. The rough, 'used a lot' look of the blade is perfect, actually, it's just as I had hoped, I really like that style of blade, whether it's a knife or an hatchet. As far as the (deep grained) wooden handle goes, I'll just have to take their word that it's made from, "English Beech", but it seems to be a very dense wood, I'd liken it to a baseball bat, but more coarse, more grain. Bats are usually made from Maple, now, I think, which is a dense, fine wood. Anyway, I don't think that there will be any problems from it at all. It's fairly 'grippy', it doesn't feel like it'd slip put of your hand that easy, of course, sweat may have other ideas...The holster is seemingly real leather, (I'm pretty sure) and it's made very well, it's just feels kind of wimpy compared to the hatchet itself, it needs to be thicker, but only because it fits the hatchet more. I don't doubt that it will last a long time, even if it is a little thinner than I would like, but it should do its job. The brass rivets that hold it together seem to also be made well, and done right. The snap will hopefully keep working, that is about the first thing to go with this stuff, snaps if made cheap won't last long at all, but we'll see.Overall, my impressions of it all is very good, I feel as though I actually got what I paid for, I am pretty sure that if you are an average person that needs a good hatchet, you will be happy enough with this.I 'may' even do some wood burning art or Dremel carving on the handle, but if my wife is right, and I am lazy, then I won't. We'll see...

Nice hatchet!
If you purchase this hatchet/hand Axe you won't be disappointed. The design is great the handle is heavy hard wood and the Axe head is very nice. I've used it several times and look forward to many camping trips with it. And the bonus is you get a sharpening stone and head cover. Awesome.

Look at other ones first.
Tha blade is rather dull for being brand new. The Handel is a very loose fit. The steel is not very good. All in all if you need a twig cutter, you can’t go wrong. I will be looking for a better one.

Poor quality control, arrived broken
I won’t even try to use this axe because right out of the box the head wobbles and I don’t trust the shaft to hold up to a swing or the impact. You can see that they’ve used wood putty on the top to try to repair the handle during assembly when they should have tossed it and started over with a new handle. So perhaps if they don’t have assembly issues the axe may have potential. The other thing is that the head coated in something and that makes it ragged. Possibly to mimic aging but it’s not a mice finish. The axe itself is slightly sharp but would definitely need more sharpening to be useful.
