Neat & Tidy
Good size handsets / very neat bases. Clear instructions and set-up was easy. Seems to work very effectively. As usual, there is just the frustration of installing our phone book entries!

Good value, easy install
Easy set up manually or using set-up wizard. Data transfers to 2nd hand set automatically. Plenty of features and choices on volume, call settings, call blocking and answer phone etc. Comes with a printed handbook, really useful. Feels somewhat unstable when charging on the base, but overall a good choice.

Works with Vodaphone router on full fibre broadband
Box and instructions don’t indicate that this trio supports VoIP, although the Amazon site search indicated would be. Several posts on Google sites indicated that BT phones would not work with Vodaphone routers, however this base unit functioned perfectly. I bought this to replace an older BT cordless phone trio which didn’t.

Something of a disappointment
You'd think BT of all people would be able to supply a phone which had acceptable sound quality but this is not the case. I'm disappointed with both the quality and also the volume of incoming calls. The processor struggles with everyday tasks ; you get the feeling they've gone for the cheapest processor they could get their hands on. For instance if you want to see your contact list there's a delay while it's "gathering contact list". I would also question why it has so many different ways of accepting and/or blocking incoming calls. The instructions are a bit of a dog's breakfast and it took me about a week to fully understand them.Another unwelcome feature is that you can block or allow calls from whatever numbers you wish but you can't see a list of those numbers. So if you ever want unblock a number for whatever reason, your only option is to "unblock all", which is a clumsy way of doing things. Similarly , you can "allow" numbers to bypass the call blocking but you can't see a list of the "allowed" numbers. You just can't , that's all. This is an absurdity.I was so disappointed in this item I did consider sending it backfor a refund but as we very rarely use the landline phone nowadays ( I only really bought this for the call blocker function) I couldn't be bothered with the extra hassle. To be fair, it does block calls effectively.Only other thing worth mentioning is that the phone when in the base station is fully 8 inches ( 20 cm) high and may not fit where you want it to fit.

If you are bombarded with unwanted calls then this is your answer.
I am 78 years old and care for my invalid wife and was finding that I was being pestered by sales calls and would be scam calls. It was obvious that I was on some "vulnerable old git" list. I saw an article in the press about call blocking and when I went online to investigate came across an article recommending the BT8500 telephone. I looked at the reviews which seemed mostly favourable so went ahead and ordered one. It has transformed my life. I set up my contact list which was very easy and straightforward, plugged it in and waited for the pesky calls so that I could add them to the block number list. Well the phone has been in situ for over a week now and I have not had a single nuisance call. As soon as they are asked to identify themselves they hang up. So I have not had to block a single number as yet. It's bliss when the phone rings as I know it's a genuine call. I found the phone easy to set up and easy to use and the only action required so far has been to add a few numbers to the allowed list. If every phone was like this then those dammed people would go out of business. EVERY OVER 65 SHOULD HAVE ONE.

No more spam or scam calls!
After looking at seperate phone call blockers etc, I decided to get integrated phone and call blocking. This didnt work out bad as most of those seperate devices are knocking around 50 quid mark for decent features. Once the phones were setup and phone numbers entered (thats the painful part), it at least shares any updates to numbers with each handset.Good news is now when I've checked the phone occassoinally, I see its done the job and blocked calls with not even a murmur, so no more pesky scam calls with witheld numbers or whatever. If the number is in the phone, it goes straight through and if not, it asks them to name themselves before ringing and gives you the choice of answering, voicemail or simply blocking.I reckon if you have older relatives who get stressed with these nuisance calls, this would be a great investment in making their day calmer!Overall good features, and usability. Sound is fine (slightly hissing sometimes, but you get that with even the best dect phones), so happy I got them.
