This small modification makes it compatible with makita bases.
I like the power of a corded router but sometimes you just want to quickly round a corner and the brushless router is the banana. I asked the manufacturer if this router was compatible with makita and they said it wasn't. Undeterred, and prodded by a 15% discount, I bought one anyway. Glad I did, because the only difference was a shallow slot that aligns with a pin on the makita bases. Probably a copyright thing. For 45 quid, this is a stonking deal for a great little router. Doubly so if you can use existing accessories. As an update on my previous review, there's a couple things to note. Although the router has soft start, the opposite can be said of the switching off. It is more like an emergency stop, coming to an abrupt halt that will spin the nut and collet God knows where if it isn't tightened. The other thing to note is this router has no low-battery protection circuitry and could result in bricking the battery. My suggestion is, don't leave the battery attached when not in use and charge the battery as soon as the power starts to drop off.

Excellent tool!
A great little trimmer and router, plenty powerful for its size. The collet and nut are nicely made and hold on to the bit nicely

Makita but half the price
Brilliant , takes Makita batteries and works just like the Makita mini routers but no where near the price . Fully recommend

Not disappointed
I bought this as an alternative to the Makita routers it clearly resembles and I was not disappointed. Not premium, but very usable.

Single use, waste of money
Garbage. Worked well initially, but 40 days into hobby use it has expired. This means it’s beyond the 30 day return period, and every link you click to get support or repair just goes back to the same place. Terrible experience and £45 down the drain basically. Be very wary of these single-use tools…
