DEWALT514009045 Adaptor

This vac adapter fits my corded Dewalt electric hand plane and really does a decent job of catching shavings as they come off the plane. I get the best results by taking several light passes rather a few deeper passes. I wouldn't call the setup perfect, but it's far better than having shavings flying everywhere.

I bought a dewalt planer thinking there would at least be a dust bag included, wrong. Found the adapter to be cheaper through Amazon. The attachment fits perfect on my wet/dry vac and there’s no mess to clean after using it. Great attachment and fast shipping.

This is an item that should be included with the Dewalt hand planer.Not only was it not included, but actually purchasing it was a problem.I have not used it yet, it does not adapt well to current Vacumn hose extensions, but I will figure that out.I have a feeling that when in use it will slide out of its slot. I am already planning to put a screw into the item to keep it in place.This item is a necessity for the hand planer. I tried the planer when I received and was greeted with a dense cloud of sawdust. Kind of expected that.Dewalt customer service sucks.

It fits the planer perfectly. The 90°bend and the conversion into a smaller exit hole makes it clog pretty easily. I first tried it with my dewalt vacuum on low, then high then moved to a more powerful vacuum. It did work but it didn’t keep the shavings whole like I was looking forward to so I could use as bedding for my chickens. It did turn it into more of a powder which not only clogged up the adapter but clogged up the vacuum filters rather quickly. Also was a bit difficult to adapt to the vacuum hoses. All in all it does work but there will be some clogging and issues adapting to vacuum. If they made the adapter straight and kept the exit hole size the same as the tool connection side it would work much better

The 514009045 adapter fits my DW677 hand planer. However, there was still no bag.On a whim, I also ordered the Dewalt DW7053 dust bag for Miter saws hoping I would be able to "Macgiver" it to work with my DW677 hand planer. Turns out, that the DW7053 comes with the bag AND an adapter. Funny the product description doesn't say it comes with an adapter.Anyway, the DW7053 adapter that came with the bag fits the planer adapter 514009045 perfectly.So, now I have a dust bag for my Dewalt DW677 planer.

Loved the product but would like to see some way to secure the piece to the planer. It comes off too often and because of that I only gave it 4 stars.Also, why does Amazon email me my order has been shipped and yet, as of this date, it has been 7 days since it arrived at the post office and has just been sitting there. At the last minute it will suddenly be sent from the post office and arrive. This has happened several times. NOT GOOD!!!!!
