Huge, fast grower, with some caveats
First of all, the one bulb I ordered lived and is growing fine. Though I did not know what I was getting into. Once the bulb starts growing it grows fast. If you plan on going low maintenance, one tiny bulb will try to take over your tank. I saw my first leaf sprout in May, and by mid July I've had to trim at least a dozen hand sized leaves because they're blocking too much light at the surface! If you're more aggressive with your trimming I've read that you can 'train' your tiger lotus to stay small and subaquatic. Also I've read that the roots of the tiger lotus put out a chemical that inhibits the growth of other plants around it, so beware of that possibility. Just some things to consider. Also I've got a flower pod on the way! It's going to be interesting to watch it make it's way to the surface and bloom!!

Plants were dead on arrival
I ordered the tiger lotus bulb as well as 6 other plants. It took almost 2 weeks to arrive via USPS and it was just a clear bag with brown slimy leaves connected to some roots. I did put the roots into the aquarium to see if I could get anything to grow and did got 1 amazon sword (I think) to live. The tiger lotus bulb when it arrived with the plants, was soft and squishy. From everything I read, it is supposed to be firm. I did put it in the aquarium on top of the substrate directly under lights as advised but nothing grew. I will not buy plants from here again and would not recommend it to anyone else. Also, after adding these plants to my aquarium, I started seeing snails. My tank has been running with plants and Discus fish for over 3 years. I did not have snails prior to adding these plants so I am almost certain they came together.

Great little Plant!
They actually sent me two bulbs, which was great and appreciated! They both have bloomed, although one of them not as much because I had to move it away from the root tabs I put in for it to accommodate trying to sink some driftwood. This one wasn't moved. The purple is looking really good and it's sprouting like crazy! I am using root tabs (mainly because I used just normal sand for substrate as I wasn't planning for stemmed plants). I'm also using some extra iron in the water and liquid fertilizer (for the other plants but I'm sure this one benefits a little as well) and sunlight quality light for 7-8 hours a day to get this growth. This plant is going to look so good surrounded by the greenery of the other plants in the tank!

Disappointed
After waiting over a week I fnally got not only my Tiger Lotus but also my Java Fern. The Tiger Lotus had a bunch of leaves which I was excited about as well as shocked as it was supposed to just be a bulb not an already growing Lotus. As soon as I took it out the package and placed it in my tank all the leaves fell off. Hopefully the bulb will produce more. The Java Fern leaves were multicolored. Lite green and brown. Roots on the Fern look good but time will tell if it will survive.

Great results be patient
I was very skeptical when buying this product but I love lotus plans that I’ve seen when traveling in Asia. The description sounded pretty honest and was clear that the bulbs only grow under certain conditions. I thought I would take a chance and I didn’t think I was going to get any results but after a few months I noticed these brown leaves popping up in my tank. Sure enough even with the Brazilian penny wort growing overhead it’s doing really well. I have dwarf frogs in this tank and they like to hop on the lotus leaves and then climb on top of the penny wort to hang out on the surface and breathe. Overall this is a lovely addition to my tank and I will be ordering more for two other tanks that I have. They do take quite a while to get going and I did not think it was going to produce so you do have to be patient with them mine took about three months before being evident that it was growing. My water is about 15 inches deep in this tank, which has mixed tetras, a beta (no issues btw) mystery snails, dwarf frogs and plecos. All in all this plant is a lovely natural addition to the tank. The one star was just taken off because of questions about the germination rate, how long they take and not all bulbs are probably always going to be viable. Overall these are really neat. Ps the stems are short, about 8-10” in high at most. Leaves are 3-4” in long. They really are striking in the purple orange and green color is hard to describe. Because they stay small they are nice in the tank. I wish I had room for a full size lotus but that would be ridiculous. Anyway really delighted with this plant. Ordering a few more.

Awesome!
I love this plant! I received it as a bulb and the tiny stem had fallen off it during shipping. I still planted it (half buried in sand) and it began growing after about a week. Two weeks later it had already grown some leaves, but I was concerned that it wasn’t getting enough light so I attempted to move it (stupid I know). I didn’t realize that the bulb had already established an extensive root system, and I accidentally detached the plant from the bulb in my attempt to relocate it. The plant still had roots so I left it planted where it was, and then moved the bulb to the preferred location and waited. The plant left behind lost its leaves and eventually died over the next month, but the bulb re-sprouted and grew quickly. I attached a photo I took this morning that is approximately 2 months regrowth. 😊 They’re very resilient little plants, I would definitely buy them again.
