Dissapointing given the price
The CalDigit USB-C to HDMI 2.1 8K Video Adapter let me down. Even though it has great reviews I have found it to be of inferior performance compared to offerings from other manufacturers, making it hard to justify the price premium paid for this product. On top of this, it's worth noting that the adapter lacks DolbyVision support. If you're planning to connect it to an iPad or device capable of outputting DolbyVision I would avoid this adapter (see pic attached). For SDR / HDR10 output it will work fine but it's overall performance is still worse compared to other adapters. The adapter I went for in the end is (https://amzn.eu/d/jm5iyYy), I hope this saves you the hassle of trying different products and dealing with returns. The build quality of the adapter is great and in line with other CalDigit products, ease of use also receives a 5-star but they won't make up for the other drawbacks.

Incapable adapter
I was forced to buy a few different brands one after another, because they all seem to make claims that are not entirely true. In this adapter's case, it cannot achieve HDMI 2.1 spec to the word. When attempting 4K 120Hz HDR with LPCM audio, the adapter can only go up to 4:2:0 compressed format, which means 'fuzzy' colours as it is an old way of transmitting compressed lossy video image data to a screen, pure uncompressed RGB requires higher bandwidth, which is what the HDMI 2.1 spec allows for! This adapter is incapable of RGB 10bit @ 120hz in 4K, as such it should not be labeled 'HDMI 2.1' adapter. Those who are after a Thunderbolt 3/USB4 compatible 8K adapter, to help you avoid having to make returns (I'm doing you a favour here by saving you on headaches), in the end the one that worked without issue was https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B57T77H3
