Big approval for Violet Vixen
Okay so this is an amazing color! I tried to capture it after my shower but my bathroom light shows up fairly yellow-tinted. I put this over top of a nude color transfer resistant lip, because I already had it on and it also acts like a lip liner.Instant favorite! I am a lipstick girl and I have more of them than I know what to do with, but I’m so glad I took a chance on this. The nude color underneath tones the violet quite a bit and I can’t wait to try it alone as a more vibrant shade for more pop (maybe when I actually have somewhere to go and I’m not just hanging out in my robe, lol).If you appreciate unique colors in makeup , this is a find for the price. I rate both the quality of color and formulation on par with pricier department store brands. I don’t usually love bullet lipsticks either but Maybelline really brings it with some of their formulations. Also, on a side note, for those with silver hair, I have a feeling this would be really quite lovely! I’m mature in age but still waiting for my silver to grow in. I have light/medium brown hair with a tinge of gray, but is still half wet in this photo so not the best image.

Very beautiful greige that's not a dupe for anything.
My favorite lip color is Tarte's Texas Toast, a limited edition color designed by an Internet star. Being limited edition, one can't get it in stores anymore, and the website limits you to only buying one at a time. It's my perfect "your lips but better" color, so I've managed to hoard three, and hopefully they'll have more free shipping days so I can get another while it exists-but soon, it will be no more.Everything I love gets discontinued. So, I'm looking for a dupe, preparing for the fateful day my fav lippie is gone. The makeup gurus pointed me towards Matbelline's Gone Griege and I even saw a video where it was supposed to be exact. Well, they are wrong, it's not even close to a dupe, it's much darker. But not only do I like it as much as Texas Toast, i like it more. It's prettier, more glamorous and interesting.Tarte's product makes my lips look like I'm barely wearing anything, just more defined and smooth, and Gone Greige is a much darker, more noticeable color. It's a perfect greige that I think would work with many skin tones. It's lot better than the browns that were the trend a while back but still gives that dark natural lip effect.Like all Maybelline, it's moisturizing, and very comfortable to wear. It is not a long-lasting lipstick but good enough. What I've been doing is using the Texas Toast for running around, and putting the Gone Greige over it for a sexier lip later and reapplying as needed. But I often wear the Maybelline alone and I get several hours without fading and no streaking. This is a beautiful color and if you haven't tried a griege before and like neutral color lips, give this a go.Of course, I'm going to have to start stocking up on Gone Greige, because now that I fell in love with it, it's sure to be discontinued. If like me, you try it and love it, get a couple extra tubes, because without a doubt, I'm the black thumb of makeup products.

Gone Greige, an unexpected surprise
I wasn't sure what to expect with Gone Greige - I usually stick to my reds and plums, I don't normally do bold, non-conventional colours and I don't do well with nudes as well. However, Gone Greige was an unexpected surprise. It is a mix of Grey and Beige (which I am guessing where the name comes from), which complements my cool skin tone. It does not make me look washed out (or dead) like nudes do. It completely changes my everyday make up look to a bold, trendy and edgy look. And it kind of makes me look somewhat cold and unapproachable, but hey, that's the trend right now right? The wear time is pretty good for me. It does fade slightly after I eat and is not as bold, but the overall colour still remains and still looks good even if I don't reapply. The texture is also non-drying and goes on pretty creamy. The only downside for me is the scent, I can't figure out what it smells like exactly. I usually hate any sort of scents in my lip products. This one is pretty strong smelling in the packaging but thankfully, it is faint enough when applied. All in all, this isn't your everyday make up item. But if you're looking to get into the latest make up trend, this is worth a shot. For $5 a pop, you really can't go wrong with this one.

Lovely and livid.
Very pretty, though not precisely what I wanted. Kinda chasing this colour from a discontinued makeup brand, but I don’t hate it by any means. I will say that I believe it may have been stored in a warm place or it’s a bit old. It had little bumps on the surface but they wiped off fine and it didn’t look there was anything truly amiss other than that. Goes on smooth and doesn’t feel like it’s eager to go anywhere. However! It comes off very clean, which is nice. It will go nicely with my particular darker aesthetic of looking kinda dead but hot.
