Nite Ize Steelie Vent Kit - Magnetic Cell Phone Holder for Car Vents - Phone Mount - Orbiter Plus

I love this thing! I wish I had found it sooner. I’ve wasted so much money on other products looking for the right one when this was it all along! I chose the vent style since I already have a dash style. It was supposed to replace the phone mount however with the super magnetic backer for my phone, I love the adjustability, I can move it from vehicle to vehicle with ease. This is a must get! Not to mention the value! and magnet strength!

I like many folks here think very highly of Steelie products. So much so that when I need to travel, I feel out of sorts when I have to drive a rental car. While I'm not comfortable with the level of dependency I've built up with this brand, imagine my sheer joy when Steelie launched a portable mount that I could move from car to car. This vent mount is perfect for that being that it's portable, sturdy, and the clamp works great. However- I, like others, noticed that my phone was too heavy to stay in position. Bumps in the road would cause it to shift in position. Others here are concerned about the magnet not being strong enough to hold up the phone. I challenged this presumption because I believe the magnet is plenty strong for this purpose, otherwise the phone would have fallen off. Instead, I came to the hypothesis that Steelie is SO GOOD, that the ball mount is just too polished and therefore lacks friction. SOLUTION: I bought a roll of clear gift wrapping tape and put a piece of tape over the ball, therefore increasing the friction quotient just slightly while not impacting the connectivity of the magnet. No more sliding! Even when I hit bumps in the road, it stays perfectly in place. Perhaps in the future Steelie can include a small 3M dot or something to address this issue. But in the meantime, this will do. Great product, will buy again and again. Because I need to.

I opened the package today! I really like the effort put into the construction of this design. At 1st I thought the orbiter design, with double magnets would fight each other when I dismount the device from the placement of my steelie ball on the vent of my car. But, it works great! When I pivot the device around the ball everything works like you think and holds firm in every direction. Take note of the placement of the sticker magnet on the back of the device case.....most people would want this attached just off center one way or the other in the long direction of the device as to help with orientation for different angles. Centering the magnet works great too! I like mine just off center favoring the topside of the device.

I love the Steelies. This is probably the worst one, but still better than any other vent mounting system I have seen. Youre still better off mounting the ball to your dash with the normal adhesion but if that is not an option, this can still provide at least a reasonable mounting experience. It will occasionally fall off the mount, especially when going over bumps with a heavy phone, but again, it holds better than any other vent mounts I have used.

This is a great product! I have an Apple iPhone 6 Plus and an Apple iPad Air, this let me mount either in my truck. If you are concerned about this not gripping your vent louver, let me put your mind at ease. This product will hold as advertised. The jaws are made with a rubber that grabs and holds until you flip the quality lever to release. This is a great product because it is easy to move from one vehicle to another or to position it in a different area or vent. It also allow you to position your phone or even tablet in portrait or landscape just by turning. I have shared this and other Nite Ize Steelie Mount kits with my friends and they still are my friends. I have had a few other car mount kits, they are junk when compared with Nite Ize Mount kits. And to top it off, the Nite Ize Steelie Mount kit they looks great, not a goofy or clumsy plastic wobbly arm. Get this product like so many of my friends have and you will be only wishing you had done it sooner. I've used the Nite Ize vent clip solution for 15 years and can't say enough about the simplicity and quality of their products. Thank you for making my life so much easier.

It holds my S24 snug. Fits the vents on a '22 Tucson good. Wiggles a bit but nothing you notice after a drive. Unique in that you need their proprietary stuff to all be compatible. Only downside really if you stretch it.

The way this attaches to the vent is not very secure. It is simply a compression of two tabs around one vent fin. The vent is still free to move which means it naturally slumps downward due to the weight of the phone mount. The materials are all really nice. Good quality plastic and metal parts. But that doesn't matter if it can't stay in place. And the magnet is not very strong. My phone wants to rotate on the metal ball and not stay put. I also bought the LiSEN vent mount and that is much better.

Semplicemente fenomenale. Non molla mai la presa. È possibile spostare il telefono in ogni direzione e non si sposterà da come lo avrete messo. Inoltre avendo le clip si può spostare in più auto (a me capita spesso)

On the positive side, the Steelie Orbiter Vent Mount Kit is small and therefore good for car hire. But on the not-so-positive side, I have to keep correcting the mobile position when driving. And in comparison to much cheaper car mobile mounts, it's way too expensive, like over double! I would have sent it back, but the conditions for return are clear - the item is not eligible to be returned if damaged in any way, and it is virtually impossible to remove the metal disc from the phone without some sort of damage. The concept is good but I'm sorry it doesn't quite cut the mustard!
