If you need a small, highly accurate, recorder this is an excellent choice. I was a bit skeptical after reading all the reviews. The whiners complainers are wrong as usual. The fact is this is a fantastic product, end of story.

Functions just like a VP-10 which I have owned since Sept 2015..8 gigs of space which is nice.. The only glaring thing missing is unlike most other Olympus recorders is a start/stop timer recording function. That would make this recorder almost perfect for its size and maybe some higher bit rate options for recording. Otherwise I love this unit.

Works as expected. I love the sleek design and the accuracy of the recording. Menus are a bit complex and it takes time to get used to. Eventually it’s a very good product.

There is no way to pause and resume recording with this device. If you want to take a break, you have to stop and resume with an entirely new file. This thing comes with an 84 page instruction manual. It Includes all kinds of features that are complex and sophisticated. Yet, it fails to include the basic function of pausing in the middle of a recording. There’s misleading information about this in other Reviews. But, I can tell you for certain that recording cannot be paused. if you don’t trust Amazon reviews, that’s completely understandable. Just check page 16 of the English instruction manual for yourself. or, go through the frustration of purchasing this thing for more than $100, testing it yourself and then waste part of your day driving to some location for the purpose of returning it.

I got this to update my old VP-10 recorder. It is virtually the identical housing, but has some improvements. The older model has 4GB. The current VP-20 has 8GB, so double the recording time. I like that this is rechargeable. It can run on a normal AAA battery, or you can use rechargeables. It's easy to plug it into the computer and just recharge it that way. Battery life is very good, lasting many hours on one charge. This voice recorder is really easy to use. There is a slide button on the top for quick-start recording. You can pause during recording too. It also will operate voice activated. I use mine primarily for making recordings of bird calls, for which purpose it works great. I get crisp, clear recordings of the bird calls. It makes great voice recordings too. There is a filter that will help cut out background noises, which is useful when I record outdoors for bird calls. It will record directly to an .MP3 file type. Downloading your recordings to the computer is simple. The USB port is built-in at the bottom of the device. Open the cover and plug it in and you are ready to go. The housing is made of plastic, so it's not rugged. It does fit nicely in a shirt pocket, if you need to use it to record meetings or lectures. You can listen to your recordings on your computer too. Overall, I think this is a quality product and it does a great job making clear voice recordings. The battery life is great and it is rechargeable. I am happy with this purchase.
