Exactly what I needed, great tool.
Unfortunately I bought a pair of heavy duty hex crimping tool i advance and having come to need it I discovered it is not fit for purpose. The terminals are bigger than the wire which is either due to metric to awg or under sized wire. The diameter corresponded to the cable sizes so I'm not sure why they weren't a better fit but when I tried to crimp a terminal on with the hex crimp tool hardly it squashed it at all and the terminal fell off. Trying the next size down didn't help and each time I tried it destroyed the terminal. You can see this in the picture how the cut off terminal is pinched at the sides.Feeling a bit defeated, unsure whether I needed a new tool or new terminals/wire, which all were past the return date. So I tried crushing the cut off terminal in the vice but as you can see the terminal and wire are both mangled. At this point I gave up and started looking for another tool. In the end I got one this tool that you hammer or put in the vice.Putting the terminal in and using the vice to tighten it up until it was hard to do more, the result was a good secure crimp that I couldn't pull off.So bacon saved and I've done a whole load more and I am happy that the terminals are secure enough to handle big currents. I am using 16mm2 110a and 25mm2 170a cable, using 2 25mm2 cables per connection for the inverter/battery connections which is fused at 250a with a estimated peak load of 160a for microwave.Unfortunately the hammer/vise tool was similar price so I've paid twice but you cannot risk poor connections with high dc amps.In summary, the design of this tool is great as are the results, no risk of loose joints because it applies pressure to a point which crushes the terminal together meaning that slightly loose terminals don't matter. I am glad I got this and didn't try another pliers type where you are at the mercy of the jaw size where as this tool does not have this problem. Its small, sturdy and will last a lifetime. I like the control of using the vice but using a hammer is pretty much as as good. If in doubt you could always add solder to be sure but I doubt it would be needed.

Perfect tool for crimping battery cables.
I ordered this product to Make up some battery cables for an old land rover. Works perfectly. Only improvement would be the ability to mark the ends as positive or negative. Only option with this is a positive stamp.

Does the job easily and reliably
I think this is a little expensive for what it is, but perhaps I'm being unfair. It's really easy to use and does the job. I needed to crimp some connectors on some 2-gauge cable, and I found that I needed to turn the crimp round and do it a second time for each connector, but that's not a fault, just caution on my part. I recommend it!

Worked a treat
Works very well, However can be a bit awkward with a standard 16oz hammer so I would recommend using a heavier club hammer.

It works perfectly well.
Another low-cost tool for the workshop which is so useful, very low-tech but works first time every time.

Tolles Werkzeug
