Stop Putting Wax On The Strings
I like these tampons & I was happy to see that they are indeed 100% organic cotton with NOTHING ELSE. I only took off 1 star because of the ridiculous inclusion of paraffin wax on the tampon withdrawal string part. I don't know why it's so hard for these companies to just make a piece of rolled up 100% organic cotton with a string and sell it. There's no need to add wax even if it's just on the removal string bit. Over 20 years of tampons I've NEVER once gotten the string wet or cared about that. Don't you hold it out of the way when you pee? Sheesh.Organic items should be 100% natural & organic. No synthetics, even if it's just on the removal string. However, since it's NOT wrapped around the tampon itself, I still tried them & I was pleasantly surprised.I do like these tampons. I was happy to see that they are indeed 100% organic cotton with NO OTHER INGREDIENTS (except the wax on the removal string). So many companies claim organic but then you see they play a semantics game where the tampon IS organic cotton but then it's wrapped up with all sorts of plastic & titanium dioxide (a known carcinogen banned in the EU for 17+ years FYI). So I commend August for this. The applicator was a little weird for me at first because it's all one width-it doesn't have a tapered area to grip at the top but it didn't cause any insertion/functionality issues. It does have grooves at the top so you can grip it nicely. Most organic ones I've used have the same kind of applicator-a fat thing with just some grooves to grip onto so it's no big deal. Did not have any issues with proper insertion and - most importantly - the applicator plunger DOESN'T GET STUCK in the tube like some of the other organic brands' applicators. So thank you for that, August! The tampon itself also has GREAT absorbency & did not have ANY leaks! I was amazed at that because the other organic brand leaks on me...even when I use Super on the first day it still ends up with a few drops/leaks.My periods have always been on the short & light side...only 3-4 days of tampon usage from start to finish, but now I'm pretty much using tampons for 2 days, and then maybe on day 3 I need a liner. There is no more day 4 ever. I think it's because this cotton is organic & has no other ingredients interfering with it's functionality. It is much more absorbent than the big name brand I used to use when I first got my period.Overall, these are good tampons, they do the job & do it better for me than some other organic brands I've tried. The price is also comparable - for the competing brand it's $31 for 72, and for these it's $40 for 96...and no tax. So August is actually $1 cheaper per 72-pack. (72 would be $29.99 versus competitor's $30.99 for 72)If you're looking for a clean organic brand that does the job very well & is truly 100% organic cotton only, then I recommend these.

Needs work...
The tampons never open up well and lasts less than a regular Tampax. Plastic applicator needs a major revamp. Heafty price too. Hope to one day try again.
