Great for smaller digging.
The older you get the harder it is to use a big spade. This is a good design and all one piece making it extremely strong.A smaller spade width makes digging easy.

Very sturdy
Very sturdy (no problem using for digging heavy clay for a new bed, and with our soil it's a real test!), comfortable to use. could do with a little ledge on the side where one puts the foot but in sturdy boots that's not a problem. a bit on the heavy side but I still am happy with the purchase

Nice comfortable spade, love the handle, the foot part is to sharp for my weak feet. my other spade hes bent over top. hope you understand what I mean,.my fault I should have checked. UPDATE, This is the review I wrote in 2016, looks like I didn't send it(senior moment). Anyway, the handle broke after six years of good use. went on line to order another one. Noticed their is a ten year warranty with this spade. I rang customer care. Sent a picture of the spade, the lady said we will order you a new one. this was on Monday it came on Thursday, no hassle. very happy. Must say the service was second to none, the lady was very pleasant. Also the foot part of the spade is bent over now, another blessing. Highly recommend the spade and the company.

Good quality and good for use in a small garden.

Nice light spade
I did think this spade would be bigger when I ordered, but it is described as a border variety. I did think of sending it back but decided it would be very useful for lighter work and for digging out post holes. I will probably soon order its bigger 'brother' spade which is the same price and will be a good addition to the garden tools. Its nice quality and not too heavy with a well designed stout handle and shaft.

Great border spade
Really great spade. After I had ordered it I realised that it's a border spade not a full sized one and thought I had made a mistake but having used it, I love it. With earth on it, it is quite a bit lighter than a full sized one and I find it much more comfortable to use. The handle works well for me and it is well balanced and a pleasure to use. Really pleased I made that 'mistake'. Now for a border fork too!
