Stunning looking set.
This box set looks great, the slip case design is just simply brilliant.I believe the copy I got was second hand, as such the box was ever so slightly beaten up, but nothing too major, the discs were absolutely filthy with fingerprints, but again, nothing a soft microfiber cloth wouldn't fix. One or two very minor scratches. But as a whole, the set looks great and is a perfect addition to the original series.

A major, major achievement and the most entertaining TV series ever made.
Just as the limits of recorded "popular" music were restrained by the capacity of 78 rpm 10" shellac records to three minutes, so film makers generally have been constrained by the limits of audience attention in an auditorium or "movie palace" to 90 minutes. In the latter case, community involvement was a central element - the cinema was a shared emotional community entertainment, and in its heyday, an important one. Today separation is the norm, home entertainment the standard. Separation may have reached its apogee in urban Japan where individuals seal themselves off in tiny apartments hooked up to their phones and televisions and have food delivered rather than face the horror of other people - this is an increasingly common phenomena especially among the relatively young. In such circumstances, the leavening effect that other people have on one's mind, is missing allowing the imagination, thoughts good and bad, to run riot. Enter Mr David Lynch whose works more perhaps than most other artists, mirror this new reality.Of course, surrealism, and dreams in literature, in fairy tales, and myth, have been around since we occupied caves and in modern film, Bergman, Hitchcock, etc have shown the possibilities for cinema. But Mr Lynch is one contemporary artist who has managed to draw on the past and enrich the present in cinema using the extended possibilities of the television series to take cinema to a new level. We may very well be in a golden age of cinema art led by Mr Lynch and the likes of David Milch (cf Deadwood) and Twin Peaks: A limited Event Series is a major event for that golden age. Hugely entertaining, stimulating, interesting, it's a massive credit to all involved. Moreover, the associated extras are extremely well done, with overtones of such greats as Werner Herzog but also provide a really interesting look at the creative process and the massive organisation, cost, time, and creative effort that go into such works.A major, major achievement.

Mesmerizing once Id gotten over that its not Twin Peaks Season 1
I started watching this last year when it aired and really found it such a challenge. Id just rewatched all the previous episodes because I was so thrilled Twin Peaks was back so when I started watching season 3 I was heartbroken that it was so different to what id seen before. I don't think watching one episode once a week is the way to watch this and I gave up after about 8 episodes. Now to the good review - I bought the box set recently because I wanted to finish the story and I thought it cant be as bad as I remembered. And it wasn't! What an amazing show, totally mesmerizing. Once I went into it not expecting the return of Twin Peak and just watched it as something new with some familiar faces I appreciated it so much more. I watched the whole thing in a week and not having to wait for the next episode a week later really helps because you can stay much more absorbed in Lynch and Frosts bizarre and darkly humorous world. The stories are multi layered and no matter how much it doesn't seem it at the time, nearly everything is relevant to the story. I cant imagine how someone watching the last episode 18 weeks after watching the first episode could have kept on top of this narrative. I would definitely recommend in a much shorter time frame.

A great, divisive series and thoroghly enjoyable on the second viewing. Loses one star for the extremely dull extras.
Well...that was one hell of a ride! Whether you loved or hated the ending to this series and maybe even the entire programme, you can't deny there is literally nothing else quite like Twin Peaks.I admit, I didn't really enjoy my first viewing of 'The Return' when it first aired on Sky Atlantic, I found the pacing tepid and unnecessarily and deliberately frustrating - perhaps I looked forward to each airing and left disappointed by a 5 minute plus scene of some bloke sweeping the floor at a bar - riveting! But I guess that is much a Lynchian trait as anything else on here. The second time watching on Bluray and not having to wait a week between each episode helped, and armed with countless hours of YouTube channel breakdowns of each episode (I highly recommend GameSpot Universes' - very helpful) I enjoyed the series MUCH more the second time around.Loses one star because the incredibly dull extras, which really add nothing, and mostly features some European bloke doing his best Lynch impression...BADLY. It's an especially frustrating missed opportunity to add to the lore of Twin Peaks, I found the original series' Bluray boxset to be much better extras-wise, but I suppose they had 20 odd years of footage to choose from, hopefully in years to come they can release extras actually worth watching!
