A Metal Upgrade That Outlasts the Plastic—With a Caveat
The Dorman 47065HP heater hose fittings are a serious upgrade from the flimsy plastic ones that originally came on my Buick. Those plastic fittings seemed to crack if you so much as looked at them wrong, so swapping to metal was like going from a paper straw to a steel pipe—durable and confidence-inspiring. They fit perfectly and have held up well so far, even under the hot-and-cold temper tantrums of an aging engine. That said, just a word of warning: while these are miles better than plastic, when they eventually give out (because nothing lasts forever), the metal fittings might decide to break off inside the motor. And let me tell you, that’s a headache you don’t want on a Monday. Still, I’d take that risk over the plastic ones snapping every other oil change. Just keep an extractor tool handy, and these fittings will be your best friend for quite a while. A solid upgrade with a minor "handle with care" warning!

Great replacement elbow!
Works great, was a correct fit substitute part for the elbow on my 06 Buick 3800 engine. When I saw the cracked plastic one that I took out to replace with this, it was a wonder it hadn't cracked sooner than it did. Hopefully the metal will be a permanent fix now. The part seems well made overall. It's no fine machining or anything, just a regular cast metal part. Keep it in perspective though and remember that the OEM part it replaces is made of plastic. O-rings hold up fine on mine with no additional sealant, they seemed decent quality so I decided to just trust the included o-rings in spite of a couple other helpful comments here where they had issues with them. Price is good too, cost less than what I could find the OEM plastic ones for.
