The Bible of lithium. If you prescribe lithium you need this book. It is clinically useful and easy to read. Stahl’s best work by far.

Great book. I was able to flex on my attending with the knowledge I got from it.

Kudos to Drs. Meyer and Stahl for pulling all the evidence together and organizing it into a useful, practical guide.

Amazing book!

Comprehensive and credible info. I prescribe a lot of lithium and now can prescribe with more confidence. I appreciate the nephrology info. I'm very interested in the loading dose titration schedule. As far as I can tell the book is entirely focused on treatment of major mental illness, and would have liked more info on supplemental use for promotion of health and prevention of dementia for non-bipolar individuals, although I understand the evidence based is small and this book is evidence-based. Looking forward to more handbooks in this series, especially MAOIs.

I am a professor at UC San Francisco and teach psychopharmacology to PMHNP students. One of my main goals is to teach them to not only not be afraid to use lithium in their patients with bipolar disorder, but to love this potentially lifesaving drug. This book will be a huge help to students (and current clinicians) who want to learn how to safely and effectively use lithium. Both encyclopedic and well organized, it allows the busy clinician to quickly find the information needed in clinic to provide patient care, and then to sit down after work and take a deeper dive into the "why" of managing lithium. It will be a required text for my students, not only because they'll learn how to use lithium, but because it will become a well-thumbed reference when the begin their careers. Highly recommended.

This book is exactly what i was looking. I have several of Stahl's handbooks and I find they are very helpful and informative. I use them frequently as reference for work. Lithium can be an intimidating medication, but I find these handbooks present the medication in a way that is reassuring. There is, perhaps, some bias involved where opinions in the writing are given, but largely the material within the handbook is informative with plenty of resources to independently verify the information.
